Work Trip: The Hilarious Must-Read Workplace, Enemies to Lovers, Forced Proximity Rom-Com, Brand New for 2025!
'An addictive, hilarious, rom-com adventure that I couldn't put down' - Donna Marchetti, author of Hate Mail ***They say you should keep your enemies closer... For Fliss, the prospect of a team building work trip fills her with dread. Mostly because she cannot stand her pushy colleague James, who often attempts to derail her brilliant plans. But when the two arrive in the Scottish Highlands, they find themselves facing a unique challenge: their boss has abandoned them in the middle of nowhere with only one tent, two sleeping bags and a few protein bars. Cut off from the outside world, the pair are forced to put aside their differences to weather the unpredictable elements of the Highlands and get home. As they set out on a journey across miles of rugged wilderness - pushing each other to survive and testing their physical and emotional limits - they remain fully aware of their boss's manipulative plan to orchestrate a hook up between them. But even with only each other for company, Fliss and James stand firm in their resolve: they won't give in to any romantic notions. Or will they? Liberal Democracies and the Responsibility to Protect

Liberal Democracies and the Responsibility to Protect

This book critically examines how the international norm of the Responsibility to Protect has been effectively limited by its interpretation by liberal states. Under the Responsibility to Protect, states agree to use ‘diplomatic, humanitarian and other peaceful means’ to help protect populations – often refugees – from mass atrocities when the state is ‘manifestly failing’ to do so. Through an analysis of official discourse, as well as interviews with government officials and civil society representatives, this book examines how the Responsibility to Protect articulated by the UK and US governments was understood in the case of Syria. As the book demonstrates, the aspirations relied upon in the advocacy of the Responsibility to Protect are in constant tension with states’ conceptual understandings and practice of this norm. As the Syrian case indicates – and in a way that the book maintains as more generally representative – the Responsibility to Protect is routinely interpreted and modified in ways that effectively limit both its meaning and its implementation. In conclusion, the book’s analysis contributes to realising a more coherent government policy on atrocity prevention and response that does not undermine humanitarian protection and international consensus on the Responsibility to Protect. This book will appeal to scholars, research students, practitioners, and policymakers in the areas of international law, human rights, international relations, peace and conflict studies, and refugee studies.

'Feminitch: Poems for the Modern Witch' is not for the faint-of-heart; in New Zealand/Filipina poet Chlo Maria Winstanley's most unapologetic poetry collection yet, Chlo uses feminism, the politics of women's bodies, and the subjugation of female power (both historically and in today's modern context) to create discussions over what it means to be a modern-day "witch". Split into three sections, 'Feminitch' takes you on a journey through time, evoking imagery of the magical and the mystical to compliment this different kind of feminism, while also looking at the nature of healing, and the importance of finding your voice in today's chaotic political climate."In Feminitch Chlo Maria Winstanley eloquently paints a picture of how it feels to be a woman in our current culture. Within the words of her poetry, she cuts to the heart of turbulent global issues and bravely reveals inner truth. I was left feeling a kinship with Chlo as well as hope for the climb of all women. She has the ability to light a passionate fire within her reader that prompts inner reflection and a call to action."-NIKKI VAN EKEREN, AUTHOR OF "GRACE AND GRIT, EMPOWERING POETRY""Feminitch is a window into the endless possibilities of magical realism poetry. Chlo writes history into the present and then rewrites it into a powerful new narrative. Feminitch is a call to women to recognize the magic of a female identity and a female body and is an uplifting anthem to womanhood."-KIMBERLY NGUYEN, AUTHOR OF "FLESH"
