"Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee." To the final moment of his death beneath the waves, Captain Ahab pursues the enigmatic White Whale that took off his leg--Moby-Dick, a symbol of all that is deep and undecipherable. In this greatest of all American novels, Herman Melville spins a gripping tale of whales and whalers, but more than that, he examines the mysteries and paradoxes that lie at the very heart of existence itself. Newly designed and beautifully typeset in a modern 6-by-9-inch format by Waking Lion Press.

Moby-Dick is an 1851 novel by Herman Melville. The story tells the adventures of the wandering sailor Ishmael and his voyage on the whaling ship Pequod, commanded by Captain Ahab. Often considered the embodiment of American Romanticism, Moby-Dick was first published by Richard Bentley in London on October 18, 1851 in an expurgated three-volume edition titled The Whale, and later as one massive volume, by New York City publisher Harper and Brothers as Moby-Dick; or, The Whale on November 14, 1851. This a photo-mechanical reprint of that edition. The first line of Chapter One-"Call me Ishmael."-is one of the most famous in literature. Although the book initially received mixed reviews, Moby-Dick is now considered one of the greatest novels in the English language and has secured Melville's place among America's greatest writers.

Narrated by the sailor Ishmael, Moby-Dick is the tale of the maniacal quest of Ahab, captain of the whaling ship Pequod, as he seeks vengeance against Moby-Dick, the giant white sperm whale that bit off his leg on the ship's previous voyage. More than an epic sea-story, the detailed and realistic descriptions of whale hunting and the process of extracting whale oil, as well as life aboard ship among a culturally diverse crew, are mixed with exploration of class and social status, good and evil, and the existence of God.

Joe Dick, P.I. is a serio-comedy about a hard drinking, nightmare-prone private investigator with a foul-tempered secretary (Lucinda Rosenthal) and a manic, medicated associate (Frank Funk) who are visited by a mysterious, seductive woman (Woman) who wishes to procure Dick's (and only Dick's) services: she wants him to watch her husband kill her. At first, Dick doesn't believe her, but when she offers him $10,000 for the job, he decides to "hear her out." When strange things start happening, like the Woman showing Dick an advertisement in the Yellow Pages for his agency (something he never did nor ever would do), he is both intrigued and put off by this mysterious woman. Soon Dick begins to realize that he is caught up in some forces bigger than he is, but he doesn't know exactly what those forces are or why he is caught up in them. Joe Dick, P.I.: The Perfect Crime is a "cat and mouse" detective story that runs on at least two levels: the level between the people who 'contract' the private investigator and the level between Joe Dick and himself. In the case of self-reflection, Joe Dick is both "cat" and "mouse". The play weaves in and out of realism all the way to its shocking conclusion.
