Samuel Clay Mitchell, Company A, Third Tennessee Infantry, wrote a series of fascinating war narratives that were published in his hometown newspaper, the Pulaski Citizen, during 1887-1888. Organized under a sugar maple tree at Lynnville, Tennessee, in May of 1861, the Third Tennessee fought and surrendered at Fort Donelson, languished in Chicago's Camp Douglas prison, were paroled and released, re-joined the Confederate army in Vicksburg, and were sent to north Mississippi to fight their Fort Donelson captors again. From there, the action follows the Mississippi Central Railroad south again from Holly Springs, through Abbeville, Oxford, Springdale, Water Valley, Coffeeville, Grenada, Jackson, Chickasaw Bayou, Port Hudson, and Raymond, then through Alabama and to the Battle of Chickamauga in Georgia. "Tennessee Reb" is an illustrated first printing of this action and much more about Mitchell and the Third Regiment, including their biographies, Confederate reunions, a Memorial Roll honoring their fallen comrades, the regimental roster, and over 1,000 names for historians and genealogists. Mitchell made their purpose clear with his strong declaration, "I assert that the young men of the South did not join the army to perpetuate slavery. More especially was this the fact in Tennessee. We fought for HOME AND HOME RULE. Patriotism and honor were the ruling principles in the Confederate soldier's heart." This project was begun by Pulaski (Giles County), Tennessee historians Margaret Butler and Bob Wamble. Don Sides, of Mississippi, later added to this, then organized and edited the material, and published their collective research in January of 2020.

The old parish church of Craig still stands today and was a place of worship for one-hundred and seventy-one years, its last service was held in November of 1970. In that time, the church was served by a distinguished and long-standing minister of the Church of Scotland, the Reverend Robert Mitchell (1801-1872) who for almost thirty years served the parishioners. This is the narrative of the Reverend Robert Mitchell and his wife, Sophia Duddingstone Buist. Robert was born at Dunning, Perthshire in August of 1801 and after his education, he was licensed by the Presbytery of Auchterarder in 1830 and ordained as a minister to Carrington, Dalkeith five years later. He met and later married Sophia Duddingstone Buist, the eldest daughter of Henry Buist (1771-1865) and Helen Walker (1784-1847) of Berryhill, Abdie Parish. Robert and Sophia Mitchell had five children, two of whom were born at Carrington and the last three children were born at Craig by Montrose, Angus where in 1843 Reverend Mitchell was translated. It was here that he began his long charge at Craig and preached his numerous sermons with vigor for the next twenty-nine years. He was much beloved by his congregation and parishioners, who he labored with great diligence. In other respects, Reverend Mitchell was described as being eminently companionable, kind, and affectionate in all his intercourse with his parishioners, neighbors, and acquaintances... In the Established Presbytery of Brechin, no man was more amiable, good-humored, and tolerant..." This then is the narrative of the Reverend Robert Mitchell of Craig and his wife, Sophia Duddingstone Buist.

Even if the North American Aviation B-25 Mitchell had only participated in the Doolittle Raid, it would have cemented its place in history - but it did so much more. Whether flying dangerous low-level strafing missions across the South Pacific from New Guinea to the shores of the Japanese Home Islands or battling nature and deadly German flak over the Brenner Pass in northern Italy, the Mitchell established a reputation for being the best medium bomber used by the Allies during the war. The Mitchell was easy to fly for an inexperienced wartime-trained pilot, and a well-trained pilot could get it off a carrier deck, fully loaded. The aircraft was resilient and could suffer damage from enemy fire, be it from Zeros over Rabaul or 88mm flak sited in the mountains along the Brenner Pass, and bring the crews home - even in bombers so badly damaged that they never flew again. With over 115 images, this book tells the story of the creation of an aviation classic and the brave crews who made its reputation.

During the course of World War II, throughout the Mediterranean Theatre of Operations (which encompassed some7500 square miles of enemy air space), five USAAF medium-class bomb groups and their 20 bomb squadrons used their allotments of B-25 Mitchell aircraft to perfection. From low-altitude strafing to high-altitude bombing runs, the B-25s in the MTO proved themselves to be a most successful brood of combat aircraft. This volume includes first-hand accounts.

BRODY - A night on the town after a long workweek at my family's distillery should include shots and dancing-not a hot kiss with a handsome stranger. I'm straight...at least, that's what I figured until I find myself locking lips with a sexy city boy. Now all my circuits are going haywire, and the spark that ignites between us makes me even more curious. Unfortunately, I kissed the one man who's off-limits: Cohen Mitchell-the sole surviving heir to the Mitchell Creek distillery, a rival neighbor my family has feuded with for nearly a hundred years. Until he arrived in town, no one knew there were any Mitchells left. But the business-savvy city slicker has taken an interest in his legacy. Nothing means more to me than my family, so whether I like it or not, I have to keep my hands off the sexy, green-eyed beauty who Big Daddy has not-so-affectionately dubbed that "No Good Mitchell." Problem is: my hands have other plans... COHEN - I never expected to inherit a distillery from a father I had never known. That's how I find myself in a tiny Georgia town where everyone knows a family history I've been kept in the dark about. The townsfolk all have a different story about my ancestors, with two things in common: illegal activity and Mitchell vs O'Ralley forever. Maybe I shouldn't like Brody O'Ralley, but I didn't grow up with this stupid family feud. I enjoy touching him, kissing him and-oops-I'm falling for the man with sweet Southern charm and a big heart. Between the O'Ralley patriarch hating me, getting the Mitchell Creek distillery off the ground, and working through my own family issues, I know I should stay away from Brody. But I won't, and staying away is not what he wants either. I crave all the time with my country boy as I can get, even if it's breaking the rules. After all, I am a No Good Mitchell.

The Mitchell was one of the major medium bombers of the Second World War. It was operated by many air forces during the war including the RAF. The RAF received about 900 Mitchells among them some Mitchells coming from a Dutch order which were exclusively used by No. 320 (Dutch) Squadron. The Mitchell was also used by two other foreign units in the RAF, the Polish 305 and the French 342. This book covers in 44 pages, about 30 photos and 8 colour profiles, the operational usage of the Mitchell by those three squadrons with the usual details on losses. Revised April 2019, November 2020.
