A few years back I was going through a particularly difficult time and one day I cried out to God and asked Him that if He was with me, if He really cared, I needed a sign. I prayed that He would send me a feather. At the time it was the only thing I could think of. Little did I know at the time how powerful and significant this prayer would be over my life. Later that day I was outside weed eating and I had already forgotten about the prayer and down comes a feather I had chills from head to toe that hot summer day I kept that feather and continued mowing and there was another feather That week I continued finding feathers everywhere. I was also finding them during moments of prayer or when a major problem was testing me and my husband. I have also come to notice when I share my story with others they begin to find feathers during particular moments in their lives. My neighbor who is also a good friend shared with me that her grandkids are now always finding feathers. They always come to her and say, "Look meme A angel wing " This is a fully illustrated book in color by Laurinda Brinson: I have been painting for 40+ years and am basically a self-taught artist. In my younger days I taught classes for a local craft store. One of my favorite jobs was working for a well-known furniture manufacturer doing hand painted furniture for about nine years. It never felt like a job because I was always doing what I loved and that was painting. During this time I was privileged to get to paint at Furniture Market and do some designing. I am retired from a public job now but stay busier than ever. In the last couple of years I have been illustrating children's books. This has challenged me in ways I never imagined, but I love learning how to do things. I never want to quit learning. I am also a self-taught jewelry artist and make jewelry to go with books of various writers. The Lord has blessed me in being able to create and make things easily. I give him all the credit. He has been my main teacher through the years and my inspiration.

The Abyss Stares Back

The Abyss Stares Back

In an era of accelerating extinctions, what does it mean to discover thousands of new species in the deep sea? As we see the catastrophic effects of the Anthropocene proliferate, advanced technologies also grant us greater access to the furthest reaches of the world’s oceans, facilitating the discovery of countless new species. Sorting through the implications of this strange paradox, Stacy Alaimo explores the influence this newfound intimacy with the deep sea might have on our broader relationship to the nonhuman world. While many images of these abyssal creatures circulate as shallow clickbait, aesthetic representations can be enticing lures for speculating about their lives, profoundly expanding our environmental concern. The Abyss Stares Back analyzes a diverse range of scientific, literary, and artistic accounts of deep-sea exploration, including work from the naturalist William Beebe and the artist Else Bostelmann as well as results of the Census of Marine Life that began at the turn of the twenty-first century. As she focuses on oft-overlooked creatures of the deep, such as tubeworms, hatchetfish, siphonophores, and cephalopods, which are typically cast as “alien,” Alaimo shows how depictions of the deep seas have been enmeshed in long colonial histories and racist constructions of a threatening abyss. Drawing on feminist environmentalism, posthumanism, science and technology studies, and Indigenous and non-Western perspectives, Alaimo details how our understanding of science is fundamentally altered by aesthetic encounters with these otherworldly life forms. She argues that, although the deep sea is often thought of as a lifeless void with little connection to human existence, our increasing devastation of this realm underscores our ethical obligation to protect the biodiverse life in the depths. When the abyss stares back, it demands recognition. Retail e-book files for this title are screen-reader friendly with images accompanied by short alt text and/or extended descriptions.

Blindfolds and Pitchforks: Don't Be a Child Molester's Flying Monkey
Child sexual abuse is a major health epidemic in the world, with one in four girls and one in five boys becoming victims of sexual assault before turning 18. One of the most common and disturbing aspects of this crime is that, if victims do find the courage to disclose their abuse, they are often blamed, shamed, shunned and punished for telling. It's time to start standing behind victims of this crime and making sure that child molesters face the punishments that fit this heinous crime. People like to believe that child sexual abuse does not affect them personally or that they do not know any victims or perpetrators. It feels safe to believe that they would detect someone capable of molesting and raping children. But the fact is, approximately 90% of victims are abused by somebody known and trusted by or within the family. Shattering the myths about these crimes and speaking out is the key to changing the daunting statistics surrounding child sexual abuse.Blindfolds and Pitchforks details the story of my emotionally abusive partner who molested my daughter over a period of years and the subsequent re-victimization that we experienced as a result of turning him in. Our story is not rare; it is the norm.
