Helen Daniels Bader, one of Milwaukee's most prominent philanthropists, grew up a child of the Depression behind the soda fountain of her father's drug store in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Propelled by an independent spirit, a set of firmly held beliefs, and no small measure of grit, she became a devoted wife, loving mother, and successful businesswoman before embarking on, later in life, a career as a licensed social worker. Specializing in the care of the elderly, she was an early advocate for those afflicted with Alzheimer's disease, and ahead of her time when it came to envisioning and promoting effective strategies related to their care.Bader's legacy is significant. The $100 million Helen Bader Foundation was established in 1991, two years after her death; over the next twenty-four years, it awarded $250 million in grants designed to advance the well-being of the impoverished and disadvantaged. That mission continues today at Bader Philanthropies, Inc. Bader's life-and specifically her belief in the value of social work-is further immortalized through the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.An Independent Spirit: The Quiet, Generous Life of Helen Daniels Bader brings into sharp focus the story of one of Milwaukee's most beloved and magnanimous benefactors. Enhanced with more than two hundred and fifty images-most from family collections-it details Bader's remarkable, touching journey-one steeped in a lifetime of humility, determination, resilience, and empathy for others that played out amid years of personal disappointment and sorrow. Rising to the challenges thrown her way, Bader set an example that persists today as a model well worth emulating.

A series of sermons expounding the Nicene Creed delivered in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Vancouver, BC, Canada during Advent 2016 and Lent 2017, with editor's Foreword, texts and bibliography.
The Septuagint Version of Chapters I-XXXIX of the Book of Ezekiel
THE STUDY was originally intended to expose the manner and method of the Old Greek version of chapters i-xxxix of the Book of Ezekiel, with a view to a cautious assessment of its value for Old Testament philology and textual criticism. It was soon clear, however, that the enterprise could not go forward without considerable work upon the Greek language, the results of which turned out to be more relevant, as well as bulkier, than had been expected. The argument is made that the matters of unity, date and provenance and Hebraism must be studied as Greek Language questions methodologically distinct from and foundational to questions of translation technique. It is demonstrated that the nature of the text, the state of studies, and the need for a systematic approach to the application of the Old Greek to Hebrew text and interpretation combined to produce a pyramidal structure, in which study of the Greek of the version in Part I is the foundation upon which study of renditional method in Part II is based, and study of the bearing upon the Hebrew text in Part III rests on both together. It is also shown that at each stage there were few if any precedents for such an approach to an Old Greek text. Readers of earlier printings were unintentionally deprived of the last line of p. x, note 12 of the Introduction, which should read "II Sa. xii.4.". Regrettably the text of this book has never existed in a modern Unicode word-processor, and has been created by scanning a printout from ChiWriter 3.17.

That programme had the merit of enabling one to type combination text in three alphabets. The current new printing (2024) is a reconstruction in Microsoft Word printed out in the resultant .pdf form. There is mild repagination, and a handful of extremely minor corrections. The text is now fully searchable.
