Je me suis alors lanc un d fi: adresser une lettre de lecteur un magazine qui n'en publie jamais. Si la mienne trouve gr ce aux yeux de la r daction, si celle-ci fait une exception en l'h bergeant, alors mon pari sera gagn et je me jetterai l'encre. Aussit t dit, aussit t crit. J'envoie mon papier au mensuel fran ais Jazz Magazine qui le publie trois mois plus tard, alors que je d sesp rais de l'y trouver un jour. La r daction pr cise en chapeau: nous avons d cid d'initier une rubrique qui donnera la parole aux lecteurs. Vous imaginez ma joie? Eh bien, moi aussi j'ai eu du mal l'imaginer. Plus d'inhibition, le feu rouge s'est teint. Reste le feu vert? Pas tout de suite, je franchis l'orange clignotant et apr s quelques h sitations, j'envoie mes crits un quotidien, Al Bayane porte-parole du Parti du Progr s et du Socialisme, de gauche comme son nom l'indique, mais sans extr me ni d rive populiste, puis l'hebdomadaire La Vie conomique qui se situe gauche de la droite et droite de la gauche. D'autres publications suivront. C'est parti ainsi et j'ai crit les 87 chroniques.
'AISHAH AL-BA'UNIYAH: Life & Poems Translation & Introduction Paul Smith 'Aishah al-Ba'uniyah (1457 - 1517) came from the village of Ba'un in the south of Syria. Her family were well-known and respected religious scholars and poets. She surpassed her father and brothers in her poetry, scholarship and renown. As a young woman she went to Mecca where she had a vision of Prophet Mohammed. All her family were Sufis connected to the Qadir'iyah order. She had two spiritual masters Jamal al-Din Isma'il al-Hawwari and Muhyi al-Din Yayha al-Urnwari. The first she praised in her famous qasida. Her family moved early in her life to Damascus where she eventually married a devotee of her first spiritual master and they had a son and a daughter. She became highly regarded and later in her life was considered to be a great Sufi Master and poet. She wrote in many forms of poetry in a number of Divans and composed works on Sufism that are still highly regarded. Her great qasida (translated here) was composed in praise, influenced by Ibn al-Farid's famous 'Mystic's Way' qasida. Introduction to Sufi Poets Series 120 pages.
