Albert Kesselring was the principal Axis commander in the Italian theatre, confronting the Allies at Salerno, Anzio and Cassino.Although he is mostly remembered for his part in the campaign in Italy from 1943 to 1945, Generalfeldmarschall Albert Kesselring was also chief of staff of the Luftwaffe in 1936–37, playing a crucial role in the shaping of the service for the coming war. As commander of Luftflotte 1 in Poland and Luftflotte 2 in France and the Low Countries, he was responsible for supporting the armoured spearheads of the German Army as they undertook their Blitzkrieg campaigns. With the Fall of France, the Battle of Britain began and Luftlotte 2 was the main force in the air attack against the British air defences, with Kesselring planning many raids. Following the war Kesselring was tried and convicted of war crimes following a number of massacres of civilians in Italy. He was sentenced to death, later commuted to life imprisonment before being released on the grounds of ill health in October 1952.Here Pier Paolo Battistelli provides a detailed study of one of the most famous German commanders of World War II.

A panoramic historical drama about the man whose devotion to Hitler blinded him to the worst crime of the twentieth century, drawing closely on Gita Sereny's definitive and magisterial biography of Albert Speer. Plucked from obscurity to be Hitler's architect and Minister of War, Albert Speer became the second most powerful man in Nazi Germany and the closest Hitler had to a friend. Having narrowly escaped hanging at Nuremberg, Speer emerged from twenty years at Spandau gaol, as he thought, a changed man. But even as he publishes his bestselling accounts of the Third Reich, the extent of his complicity in Nazi crimes returns to haunt him – and his long-suffering family. David Edgar's play Albert Speer was first performed in the Lyttelton auditorium of the National Theatre, London, in May 2000.

At a time of reckoning for the future of antitrust, this Liber Amicorum brings together a diverse collection of today's leading thinkers to pay tribute to Albert Allen (Bert) Foer, founder of the American Antitrust Institute (AAI). In doing so, it illustrates the intellectual landscape of the antitrust debate, with articles that go to the heart of its goals, and others that light a path forward towards reform. Others yet delve into the pressing issues of enforcement and remedies. The variety of voices included characterize the breadth of perspectives that Bert cultivated at the AAI, from lawyers and academics to enforcers and journalists. In providing a platform for multidisciplinary discourse through the AAI, Bert helped create the foundation on which today's movement rests, a public citizen's voice spotlighting competition as the basis of diversity and dynamism.
