Meisterdirigent und Komponist - massgebend fur Generationen Felix Weingartner war einer der weltweit gefeiertsten Pultstars seiner Zeit, langjahriger Chefdirigent der Wiener Philharmoniker und Leiter bedeutender europaischer Opernhauser. Seine vieldiskutierten Kompositionen waren fester Bestandteil der Opernspielplane und des Konzertrepertoires. Mit seinen Buchern zur Musik und vor allem zum Dirigieren erwies er sich als ebenso streitbarer wie weitsichtiger Autor. Gegenwartig ist Felix Weingartner (1863-1942) allerdings nurmehr Liebhabern historischer Schallplattenaufnahmen und spezialisierten Musikhistorikern ein Begriff.
