My Dear Friend: Thy book has appeared just at a time, when, from the nature of my engagements, it will be impossible for me to give it that attention which so weighty a subject demands. Incessantly occupied in prosecuting a mission, the responsibilities of which task all my powers, I can reply to it only by desultory letters, thrown from my pen as I travel from place to place. I prefer this mode to that of taking as long a time to answer it, as thou didst to determine upon the best method by which to counteract the effect of my testimony at the north-which, as the preface of thy book informs me, was thy main design. Thou thinkest I have not been 'sufficiently informed in regard to the feelings and opinions of Christian females at the North' on the subject of slavery; for that in fact they hold the same principles with Abolitionists, although they condemn their measures.

The Holy Rosary through the Visions of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich
The German Mystic born in the latter part of the Eighteenth Century, Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, was privledged by Almighty God with sensory visions disclosing the earthly life of God Incarnate, of His Holy Mother, the Virgin Mary and of the progression of salvation history from Genesis to the Apocalypse. In this short book, the reader will find a carefully collated set of rosary meditations faithfully drawn from the texts of these visions. Meditations taken directly from our saint's writings are provided for every bead of the rosary, allowing you to ponder at greater depth the secrets revealed to Blessed Anne Catherine and enable you to truly immerse yourself in the marvelous historical events which occurred in the life of Our Divine Redeemer and His Holy Mother. This work is a work of prayer and was revised multiple times in order to offer golden nuggets of contemplative material in every bead of Our Lady's Psalter. For the benefit of the reader, meditations have also been offered, once again, drawn entirely from Our Saint's writings, for the Mysteries of Light, which are popular among many Catholics, as well as five additional mysteries, entitled "the Hopeful Mysteries", which cover events in Salvation History and in the life of Our Blessed Mother prior to the Incarnation. Blessed Anne offers a wealth of detail for each of these mysteries and these details have been collated for you in this short volume."A Retreat in a Book"--Rev. Fr. Daniel Weatherley (Sub Dean of St. George's Cathedral, Southwark)"I was very impressed with Fr Higgins' collation of Blessed Anne's writings, these Rosary Meditations are among the best I have come across, there is often enough contained in one bead's meditation to cover the entire decade, and so it is a book one can return to again and again"--James Stubbs Esq. (Lay leader and Catholic Politician)"A great preaching resource for the Mysteries of the Rosary"--Rev. Fr James Cadman (International speaker and parish mission giver)
The Epistolary Art of Catherine the Great

The Epistolary Art of Catherine the Great

The Epistolary Art of Catherine the Great is the first study to analyse comprehensively the letters of Empress Catherine the Great of Russia (reigned 1762-1796) and to argue that they constitute a masterpiece of eighteenth-century epistolary writing. In this book, Kelsey Rubin-Detlev traces Catherine’s development as a letter-writer, her networking strategies, and her image-making, demonstrating the centrality of ideas, literary experimentation, and manipulation of material form evident in Catherine’s epistolary practice. Through this, Rubin-Detlev illustrates how Catherine’s letters reveal her full engagement with the Enlightenment and further show how creatively she absorbed and responded to the ideas of her century. The letter was not merely a means by which the empress promoted Russia and its leader as European powers; it was a literary genre through which Catherine expressed her identity as a member of the social, political, and intellectual elite of her century.

To ensure the safety of her children, she had to remove herself from the lives of all those she held dear. The children were devastated; they longed to see their mother again. Catherine had every intention of returning for them once she could be certain Victor was no longer a threat to their safety, or the normalcy they deserved. However, would Victor allow this? Would Catherine stay clean? Would she ever see her children again, and what would happen to the children during her absence? She couldn't be sure, but she had no choice; she had to leave. Mythological & Psychological Relation from Catherine Cookson Novels
An close relation between mythological criticism and the psychological approach is evident in Jung's theory of symbols as both are concerned with the motives that underlie human behavior. Just as the psychological study discloses the individual personality, the mythological study reflects the mind and character of a people. The symbolic projection of peoples' fears, hopes, values and aspirations are reflected through dreams that evoke the unconscious desires and anxieties.
