Understanding the Construction Client

This book breaks new ground by creating a framework to understand clients’ actions and needs. Most construction management books focus on improving the construction process; this one focuses on a better engagement with the client. It challenges conceptions of both the construction industry and clients’ businesses so that a more effective process and greater client satisfaction can be achieved. The book suggests that ‘buildings are not about building but about changing and developing the client’. The technical, organisational and psychological aspects of this are described and analysed in detail so that current experience can be explained and better practice determined. The book offers well-researched information about clients in a number of sectors - developers, supermarkets, NHS, government, airports and housing associations - which will help you understand what these client’s business or service needs are and how construction fits into this. It demonstrates how to develop an appreciation of the client’s perspective with a toolkit for ensuring successful client engagement. This makes Understanding the Construction Client a user-friendly and practical guide, as well as significant text for academia.

America spends more than any other developed nation on healthcare,2.1 trillion in 2007 alone. But 47 million Americans remain uninsured, and of those Americans who are insured, many suffer from poor health. In his ground-breaking proposal, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel offers up a plan to comprehensively restructure the delivery and quality of our healthcare. By eliminating employer-healthcare and establishing an independent program to evaluate healthcare plans and insurance companies, he offers a no-nonsense guide to how government can institute private insurance options that will allow each of us a choice of doctor and plan. With the rate of healthcare costs rapidly outpacing our gross domestic product, we can no longer afford to maintain our fragmented delivery of care, or entertain reforms that seek to patch, rather than cure, a fractured system. Accessible, straightforward, and revolutionary in its approach, Healthcare, Guaranteed is an inarguable guide to lasting healthcare reform.

Re-conceptualizing Underrepresented Racial Minority Entrepreneurs gathers the voices of the Black American and Latino American entrepreneurs as collected by racial minority entrepreneurship scholars. The monograph has three primary goals: (1) provide a historical context of Underrepresented Racial Minority (URM) entrepreneurs - specifically Black American and Latino-Americans - illustrating their evolution, and contribution to the growth and development of the U.S. economy; (2) start a discussion of the U.S.-based racial minority entrepreneur that is unique from the immigrant entrepreneur; and (3) include in the academic discussion of the entrepreneur the voices of the URM entrepreneur as collected by the URM researcher. This monograph sets a definition of the racial minority entrepreneur, which is unique from the ethnic entrepreneur thus providing a new definition of the URM entrepreneur. The authors proceed to provide a historical overview of the distinct contributions URM entrepreneurs have made - specifically to the development of the U.S. and their present-day economic impact. Next, a systematic literature review identifies 66 empirical studies that focus on U.S.-based URM entrepreneurs. This literature review provides a qualitative analysis of URM entrepreneurs and offers suggestions for future research.

"Success is achieved when a stretch goal is met overcoming failures, problems and difficulties by conscious effort and by application of capabilities, resources and methods. It is to be differentiated from luck, chance and doing what comes naturally without effort". Success is not a cheap talk; rather, it places a great demand on anyone who desires to have it. Also, success is not a destination; rather, it is a journey. Additionally success is in grades and levels and it has different colours depending individual's perception. Dreams are seeds of great accomplishments and fulfillment in life. Success in every endeavour of man is traceable to the dream of man. To put it in another way; no man can fulfill a divine mandate without engaging the power of dream. In other words, the reason for failure in the race of life is a direct product of lack of dream. Dreams are extremely important, because, you cannot do anything successfully unless you can imagine it first. In order to succeed, man must first determine which things in life are most valuable to him. He must determine his feeling about such things as patriotism, pride, love, freedom, excellence, ownership and tolerance. Without a value system we can never move forward, because, we may be trading without increasing our potential for success. Our value system is what determines our thinking and dream patterns. In this book, I am going to be exploring some of the various aspects of the subject of success through your dream for the purpose of sparking off the passion for success in you. Each chapter contains short words of motivation that will drive you into your success dreamland. Welcome to your season of great achievement as you DREAM BIG to SUCCEED.

You need to discover your assignment in life or you die in an asylum. - David Oyedepo There is more to life than having educational qualifications, working in a multinational company, getting married and having children, building mansions and having the latest cars. There is more to life than heaping up money in the bank and having all manner of chieftaincy titles. Having all of these things is not what gives us meaning in life; they are just part of what God designed for us to have on earth. But to have meaning in life is to discover God's purpose for creating us; to locate the reason why we were sent to this world. Nothing can be compared with God's purpose discovered and pursued by His creature. We are all products of divine purpose and until that purpose is discovered and pursued, there can not be any meaningful existence on earth. God created all things; man, animal, plant and other things to add value to life. But value is provoked and released within the context of the purpose for which God created us. God's perspective of success is directly opposite the world's definition of success. For instance, the world sees a successful man as one that has money in multimillion or multibillion; houses, cars, plenty of children, political position, chieftaincy title etc. That may be true to some level only if the man is living within the context of God's purpose for his life; because God's definition of success, which is the most authentic definition is for a man to live his life according to God's purpose for him with or without all those things mentioned above. Luke 12:15; As a student of life issues, I have seen multibillionaires who rather than add value have contributed to a lot of evils in the world with the money they have. This is because material and financial possessions not utilized in line with divine purpose become sources of crisis in the world. We have heard of civil and political wars in recent times in different nations of the world as a result of selfish ambitions of political leaders who have turned governance to an institution for amassing wealth for selfish interests. If these people had chosen to discover and pursue divine purpose even as political leaders, they would have added great value to life instead of becoming perpetrators of evil in their nations leading to the death of thousands of their own citizens. This book is the outcome of the discovery of God's purpose for my life after years of intense study and search for meaning in life. When I found it, I determined not to die with God's purpose unfulfilled and His potentials in me unreleased. I decided that I will not add to the wealth in the cemetery of the world. I chose to make my own contributions to life by a tireless pursuit of His purpose for me as I help others in discovering what heaven has deposited in them before the foundation of the world. You are very important to God's agenda as a blessing to your generation. Destinies of born and unborn children are tied to the discovery of your own divinely ordained purpose. I believe that your name and your space will not be empty in the museum of great achievers in the world.

If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it. - William Arthur Ward Dreams are seeds of great accomplishments and fulfillment in life. Success in every endeavour of man is traceable to the dream of man. To put it in another way; no man can fulfill a divine mandate without engaging the power of dream. In other words, the reason for failure in the race of life is a direct product of lack of dream. One person with a dream can accomplish more than one hundred others without one. Zig Ziglar, a proven author and international speaker on this subject said; "If you can dream it, then you can achieve it." That simply means that, you cannot achieve what you do not dream. I like to put it this way; "Your achievement in life is a direct product of your dream; no more, no less". All through the years of my research and study of the subject of greatness and success achievement, I have come to the conclusion that no man on this planet earth can talk about great accomplishment in the absence of a great dream. I believe that the twenty-first century's great accomplishment will outweigh those of earlier centuries; but the truth is that twenty-first century men must learn how to dream greater dreams and follow after their dreams. The great man, Henry David Thoreau said; "If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or old laws will be expanded and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with a license of a higher order of beings" Moreover, you will learn how powerful your own dream can be and that you can accomplish even more than what your present dream is. And finally, I will be showing you the constraints, limiting factors and pot-holes on the road to turning your dream into reality so that you can guard against them. Please understand that dreamers are leaders. The man who can dream is the man who can lead. Show me a great dreamer today and I will show you a great leader tomorrow. From obscurity, Joseph emerged the greatest leader in Egypt. But remember that many years before then, it was said concerning him that he had a dream (Genesis 37:5, 6, 9) In the same way, every empire on earth today is a reality of yesterday's dream in the heart of someone who has emerged as a great leader today. Your dream of today will create a future for you as long as you follow it and keep it from being aborted. What is that dream in your heart right now? Do you believe it can become a reality tomorrow? Do you know that your dream can impact your generation if you follow it with all your God given abilities? Do you know that falling down or failing at one time or the other is part of the process you need to pass through in fulfilling your dream? Please follow me carefully through the pages of this book as these questions are answered with all simplicity. I have a charge to the body of Christ that the wealth in the hands of sinners in the world are reserved for the believers in this end time; we are right in the center of the prophetic season of supernatural wealth transfer, but we can only take delivery of this enormous wealth by covenant dreams provoked by divine inspiration. (Proverbs 13:22 & Eph. 3:20) This book will show you the practicality of dream power. And as you take time to digest the truth therein, the world will soon celebrate the reality of your own dream. Friend, sit tight, it is time to take off on this flight of great accomplishment as you begin to dream big and pursue your big dream. You are the architect of your own destiny by your dream.

Grave Markers, Volume Six

Grinning Skull Press
2021
pokkari
A collection of previously published individual Grave Markers that includes Barlow Adams' "The Grimm Reaper," Rob Smales' "Red Blood, White Wood," and Ezekiel Kincaid's "The Memoir of Darius Fischer." The Grimm Reaper: Sugar and spice and everything nice, that's what little girls are made of.And that's exactly what Arthur Rosenbaum was looking for -- the perfect woman. One who was, like him, a romantic, one who was old-fashioned...one who was pure. That was important because good little girls didn't do bad things. But Arthur had learned there were plenty of bad girls out there, bad girls who pretended to be good. Those girls needed to be punished. And he needed his faith in love restored. So all that nasty flesh became the pages upon which he "wrote" his stories, the fairy tales that mad him happy again and restored his faith in true love. Once the story was done, he was free to continue his search for the perfect woman. And then he meets Rowan, a "special" young woman who possesses a child-like innocence. She is perfect in every way, and Arthur feels as though he has finally found the one. But Arthur is about to realize that no fairy tale is complete without its villain, its evil witch... Its big, bad wolf. And to win the hand of princess he must first defeat this adversary. The question is, at 55 years old, is he up to the challenge? Red Blood, White Wood: Timothy Carpenter was the lone survivor of the pirate ship Ravager. In custody, the tale he had to tell was too outlandish to believe -- native curses, a deadly fog, and something within the fog. Admiral Buchanan of the HMS Lionheart read the pirate's account of the things that transpired with mounting disbelief. But now the fog is rolling in, and he's about to realize just how much truth is in the man's words. The Memoir of Darius Fischer: For as long as Darius Fischer can remember, his grandfather had an air of mystery about him, and he harbored many secrets, secrets he kept hidden from his own family. Now that the old man has passed away, Darius is free to explore those secrets and dispel the mystery surrounding the man. But what he finds only deepens the mystery. He finds, locked away inside a chest, strands of grayish white hair secured by a leather band. What was so important about these strands of hair, and why did the old man keep them under lock and key? From the moment he arrives home, Darius begins to witness some strange events, and a menacing shadowy figure pursues him. When he starts experiencing blackouts and waking in strange places, covered in blood, he questions his sanity. He seeks out help, first spiritual, then psychological. But has he put it off too long? Is he too late to save himself from the demons he inadvertently released?
