The Bible`s Answers to 100 of Life`s Biggest Questions

Norman L. Geisler; Jason Jimenez; Josh and Sean McDowell

Every believer has questions about God, the Bible, Jesus, and the purpose and meaning of life. The vexing problem is that so few believers are able to answer even the most basic ones. Without answers, doubt creeps in and the future of the church is in jeopardy. With insight and precision, Geisler and Jimenez address one hundred penetrating questions that the culture asks and Christians must be prepared to answer, including both controversial questions raging in the public sphere and personal questions about family issues, the purpose and meaning of life, and the future of the world. Christians from every walk of life, especially young believers, youth workers, and parents, will treasure this comprehensive resource. Foreword by Josh and Sean McDowell.

The historic lakeside village of Cazenovia in the scenic Finger Lakes region is one of the jewels of Central New York, and yet very few books have told its story. Cazenovia is a town founded by wealthy men, and much of what has been written about it has focused on the elite and the grand lakeshore mansions in which they lived. In contrast, Barnes and Emerson's new book chronicles the story of everyday Cazenovia: the fascinating people, places, and history of this 225-year-old community. The Bear Tree and Other Stories from Cazenovia's History explores the unheralded, inaccurately told, and long-forgotten tales of the town. Readers will encounter historical characters such as elephant and lion tamer Lucia Zora Card, "The Bravest Woman in the World"; educator Susan Blow, "The Mother of American Kindergarten"; and World War I soldier Cecil Donovan, whose letters home vividly depicted the experience of war for those awaiting his return in Cazenovia.

Dynastic, Bombastic, Fantastic: Reggie, Rollie, Catfish, and Charlie Finley's Swingin' A's
"An exciting and engrossing book with stories that are worth telling. This work will engage fans of Charlie O. Finley and the Oakland Athletics, along with anyone captivated by baseball history." -- Library Journal, starred review The Oakland A's of the early 1970s: Never before had an entire organization so collectively traumatized baseball's establishment with its outlandish behavior and business decisions. The high drama that played out on the field--five straight division titles and three straight championships--was exceeded only by the drama in the clubhouse and front office. Under the visionary leadership of owner Charles O. Finley, the team assembled such luminary figures as Reggie Jackson, Catfish Hunter, Rollie Fingers, and Vida Blue, and with garish uniforms and revolutionary facial hair, knocked baseball into the modern age. Finley's insatiable need for control--he was his own general manager and dictated everything from the ballpark organist's playlist to the menu for the media lounge--made him ill-suited for the advent of free agency. Within two years, his dynasty was lost. A sprawling, brawling history of one of the game's most unforgettable teams, Dynastic, Bombastic, Fantastic is a paean to the sport's most turbulent, magical team, during one of major league baseball's most turbulent, magical times.

Brewed at Altitude: A Beer Lover's History of Colorado

It started flowing during the gold rush, when saloons were much more than just a place to grab a drink. They were post offices, restaurants, hotels, social clubs, union halls, and more. But then, Colorado banned alcohol--four years before Prohibition hit the rest of the country--and a state born in a saloon ran dry for almost twenty years. Beer led the way back, and by the 1970s, brewing was big business again--really big business. Now, homebrewers have gone pro, and Colorado is one of the best places in the world to grab a brew. Join historians Sam Bock and Jason Hanson on a tour of Colorado history as seen through a pint glass. More than just a tale of ale, this is Colorado's story--told over a few beers."This isn't just a book about beer. It's a book about us. The beauty of beer is that it intertwines with so many other aspects of life--history, cultural significance, and economic impact. Bock and Hanson explore those threads offering a unique understanding as to why Colorado has become a thriving hub for beer culture The stories, insights, as well as the connection to present day and the future of brewing is the perfect read for anyone. Bonus--you have permission to enjoy a cold brew while reading " --Karen Hertz, Chief Brewista and Founder, Holidaily Brewing Company
The Top Serial Killers Of Our Time (Volumes 1, 2 & 3): True Crime Committed By The World's Most Notorious Serial Killers
For some reason I've always been fascinated by crime, particularly serial killers and what makes them "tick". Some if not all of the acts performed by human beings in this publication are so despicable that they seem impossible to believe. Unfortunately the contents contained within are not part of some fictional script for a future Hollywood movie, they are factual These volumes feature the following murderers: Volume 1 Daniel Barbosa, Andrei Chikatilo, Pedro Rodrigues Filho, Luis Alfredo Garavito, Pedro Alonso L pez, Anatoly Onoprienko, Alexander Pichushkin, Gary Ridgway, Ahmad Suradji & Yang Xinhai. Volume 2 Ted Bundy, Juan Vallejo Corona, Karl Denke, John Wayne Gacy, Fritz Haarmann, B la Kiss, Maoupa Cedric Maake, Gennady Mikhasevich, Moses Sithole & Serhiy Tkach. Volume 3 William Bonin, Ronald Dominique, Miyuki Ishikawa, Patrick Kearney, Paul John Knowles, Earle Nelson, Sergei Ryakhovsky, Maria Swanenburg, Huang Yong & Yoo Young-Chul. I hope you don't have nightmares after reading this but the truth is that statistically there's likely to be a number of serial killers roaming our streets right now. So be careful. Jason

Italian Foreign Policy during Matteo Renzi's Government

Italian Foreign Policy during Matteo Renzi's Government

Fabrizio Coticchia; Jason W. Davidson

Lexington Books
2019
sidottu
This book sets out to explain the foreign policy of Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi (February 2014 to December 2016). It offers a unique analytical framework to make sense of Renzi’s foreign policy: the domestically-focused outsider. It argues that to untangle Renzi’s foreign policy one must first understand that his clear priority was enacting domestic economic and political reforms. Domestic focus means that Renzi made foreign policy decisions with a sensitivity to public opinion and party unity. The book also argues that Renzi’s status as an outsider in Italian politics—having previously served only as the mayor of Florence—provides critical insight into his foreign policy. Renzi was prone to skepticism of the establishment and dramatic, symbolic gestures rather than patient coalition building. The book applies this framework to the five most important foreign policy issues Renzi’s government faced: migration, finance and the EU, Russia, ISIL, and Libya. The book’s analysis of the cases benefits from over twenty elite interviews, including those with senior members of Renzi’s government.
