According to the findings of this study, college women do not typically use drugs simply for the sake of taking drugs. Drug use was viewed as a part of relationships, and for some of these women, a very important part. Within their relationships, these women socially constructed drugs in traditional (i.e., using discourses of morality, legality, and health/personal safety) ways. They also tended to arrange drugs hierarchically—they created what the author labels an individualized drug acceptability ranking that helped them determine their drug using limits. This study suggests that the decisions to use drugs are more complicated than previous literature has suggested. Studies attempting to find correlations between college student drug use, personality traits of drug abusers, gender differences, racial differences, parental influences and educational influences continue to dominate the literature on college student drug use. This book provides a starting point and an invitation to listen to more voices to determine other factors that influence one's drug using decisions.
Nearly all studies of drug use and abuse approach the questions quantitatively without listening to the experiences of individuals living in cultures where drug use is notoriously problematic. This study offers new insight into the drug problem on college campuses by hearing directly from the women who experience it. The notion of the individualized drug acceptability ranking is a new concept that has not been previously developed. Discover what Real Love Is What better way to learn what real love is than by consulting the author of it? While genuine love is becoming rarer by the day, it still exists. 1 Corinthians 13 is called "The Love Chapter" in the bible and in this 15-week study, you'll learn what true love is (and is not) according to God's word. You will review the qualities of a loving person so that you can develop them to form deeper relationships. Learn How to Fulfill the Greatest Commandment Find out how to love another person as God loves you and experience how good that can be. In the Bible, we are commanded to love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Through this book, you will learn how to make this commandment a reality in your life and in doing so, claim the abundant life that God has for you. You Must Receive God's Love First In order to love others, you must first receive God's love for you. Unfortunately, many of us have emotional blocks in this area due to painful childhood experiences, negative influences, or guilt over past sins. But healing is possible once you realize that God doesn't love you because you are good, but because He is good When you can receive God's love fully, then you can love yourself and love others out of the overflow. Within each week's bible study lesson, you will find focus scriptures to memorize related to the current topic; Lesson Insight that discusses the week's story in depth; Speak the WORD affirmations that confirm your identity in Christ; and Aim for Change that provides questions for further reflection and discussion. Once you review the criteria for love in this bible study, you will never again settle for a counterfeit. John 13:35: "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
