Taking as its starting point the first-ever retrospective exhibition (2021) of performance art icon Jess Dobkin, the book reflects on the internationally acclaimed artist’s playful and provocative practice as performer, activist, curator, and community leader. At the same time, it grapples with a question that is vital for art and performance studies: How do archives perform? More than a discrete showing of a single artist’s work, the exhibition, including its new staging in book form, is a large-scale research experiment in performance curation, investigating what it might mean for art institutions to take seriously the embodied and communal nature of performance art in their practices of archiving and museological display. As a young boy Michele was destined for the priesthood, but he later became a celebrated drag queen and stripper. With no formal training Michele also became a hairstylist to the Who's Who of Johannesburg. The late Jane Engelhard sent Michele to work with the legendary hair maestro Alexandre of Paris at a time when luminaries like Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, the Duchess of Windsor and Jackie Kennedy were his clients. Later when Michele worked as a hairdresser in New York he became a confidant of Truman Capote, whom he met at Studio 54, who was already on a downward spiral of drugs and alcohol Full stop. On his return to South Africa which was under the oppressive Apartheid regime, Michele was arrested for being a gay activist — he was involved in the famous Forest Town party held on the 22nd January 1966, when police arrested 9 people, including Michele for the crime of masquerading as a woman. For this “crime” Michele was imprisoned in the notorious Old Fort. The Forest Town party was a precursor to the American Stonewall riots. Michele was later to adopt the two black daughters of his domestic helper Gloria, Kgomotso and Dineo. Single stop after Dineo. These adoptions were at the time both highly courageous and illegal. The foreword to this book has been written by highly respected, openly gay judge, Justice Edwin Cameron whom Nelson Mandela hailed as “One of South Africa’s new heroes.”

Existing shorthand systems (Gregg, Pitman, Teeline) provide non-alphabetical symbols or outlines to increase the writing speed. A number of writing strokes is significantly reduced and a high speed can be attained. However, a great deal of time must be spent on memorization and retention is difficult if you decide to use Gregg, Pitman, Teeline and similar symbol-based methods. On the other hand, speedwriting methods use alphabet letters and are easier to learn. But they require two or three strokes to write a standard letter and can not match a writing speed attainable by non-alphabetical shorthand. The MiniScript system is non-alphabetical version of the EasyScript method and designed to simplify learning and provide a high writing speed comparable to symbol-based shorthand and. EasyScript was introduced in 1990 and has become a viable alternative in the United States and worldwide for those who prefer to utilize alphabet-based speedwriting.MiniScript employs: a) a proven and popular EasyScript alphabet-based abbreviation methodology that reduces considerably the memorization volume by using a small set of abbreviating rules and b) writing abbreviations with special symbols to attain writing speeds comparable to non-alphabetical shorthand.Applying MiniScript you will need to remember only a list of 9 special symbols representing English alphabet. However, the author's extensive analysis has found that the outcomes of Weight Loss 2.0 and 3.0 interventions lack relevant knowledge of biomechanics, anatomy, and bioenergetics science, which have been preventing to obtain positive results.The fundamental problem of current weight loss interventions is that they exhibit a misconception that that neuromuscular actions support the body movement mechanism; however, skeletal joint motions are not integrated into current human movement protocols.
