The dictatorship in Chile, which lasted from September 11, 1973 to March 11, 1990, gave rise to one of the crudest and most important social contexts in the country's history. The novel Tengo miedo torero by Chilean author Pedro Lemebel, published in Chile in 2001 by Seix Barral's "Biblioteca breve" collection, has been one of the few novels capable of comprehensively reflecting the events of sexual minorities in times of repression. This book is made up of three research axes: the first is based on the analysis of the social and political context of the work, the second is related to the homosexual protest discourse addressed in the novel and the third presents the study of gender theories in the author's aesthetic proposal. The analysis should help, through the contested discourse, to build a society based on inclusive education and should be useful for professionals in the field of Literature.

The pages of this anthology echo with the voices of warriors. Their stories, poems, experiences and articles take you on a journey of sacrifices, bloodshed and victory. This fight is for the brave hearts and those that stand for the coming revolution. Those that suffered in silence and those that shouted in protest. Dipped in inks of courage and strength, their words take you beyond these pages and into the world of martyrs and soldiers.

Research on social movements has historically focused on the traditional weapons of the working class, especially labour strikes and street demonstrations-but everyday actions, such as eating or singing, which can also be turned into a means of protest, have yet to be fully explored. An interdisciplinary and comparative history of these modes of action, Bodies in Protest reveals how hunger strikes and music ranging from gospel songs to rock anthems can efficiently convey political messages and mobilize the masses. Common to both approaches, the contributions show, is a direct appeal to the emotions and a reliance on the physical, concrete language of the human body. This book was originally published as La musique en colère by Christophe Traini (2008), and La grève de la faim by Johanna Siméant (2009)

This book attempts to critically examine Dalit women's literature to analyse how Dalit women perceive and depict caste, class, and gender in their autobiographies and fiction. It endeavours to locate the beginning of Dalit women's socio-political and cultural movements and peruse their nature, scope and significance. Literature of Protest: Reading Dalit Women's Autobiographies and Fiction explores how traditionally suppressed, marginalized and muted Dalit women forayed into writing to express their distress, uncover dominant power structures, voice their indignation, and register their protest against them in order to abrogate disparities and restore their autonomy.

is, what has been said already says that no anticipations of aesthetic theory are in place here. When research stays on the level of primitive imagination, prior to the distinction between real and unreal, to merge art with life, it cannot serve as guideline for thoughts on what is distinctive within art. No canons of composition can be forthcoming, even the very concept of composition, implying a composer, must remain inadmissible; since, unlike the one of tragic art, the composer of tragic life will be here in question. No analysis of form need be expected, and when a form of vision is described, it will not be what artistic critics are used to dissect. Purely aesthetic instruments, such as plot, contrast, harmony, proper pitch, likene3s, recognition, com pleteness, will be of no use and no relevance at all. And it hardly need be mentioned that the age-fortified classification of artistic kinds remains strictly out of bounds. Here is perhaps the proper place to introduce a stylistic apology. I t is clear to everyone with a neat sense of seemliness in language that the use of unattached adjectives is very awkward in English. No one reading these paragraphs can be blamed for fidgeting when molested again and again with "the tragic" instead of "tragedy. " The excuse has perhaps transpired in the preceding passage.

Recent years have seen a new development in the growth and spread of popular protest: protests that began as local, homogeneous events-such as Occupy Wall Street or the protests of the Arab Spring-quickly left their original locations and local specificity behind and became global. This book looks at the development of this wave of protests, with an eye on protests against austerity and neoliberal economic policies, and offers a global view, covering events in Turkey, Brazil, Venezuela, South Africa, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, and other locations.

Social movements are not only remembered in personal experience, but also through cultural carriers that shape how later movements see themselves and are seen by others. The present collection zooms in on the role of photography in this memory-activism nexus. How do iconographic conventions shape images of protest? Why do some images keep movements in the public eye, while others are quickly forgotten? What role do images play in linking different protests, movements, and generations of activists? Have the affordances of digital media made it easier for activists to use images in their memory politics, or has the digital production and massive online exchange of images made it harder to identify and remember a movement via a single powerful image? Bringing together experts in visual culture, cultural memory, social movements, and digital humanities, this collection presents new empirical, theoretical, and methodological insights into the visual memory of protest.
