In The Jesuit Order as a Synagogue of Jews the author explains how Christians with Jewish family backgrounds went within less than forty years from having a leading role in the foundation of the Society of Jesus to being prohibited from membership in it. The author works at the intersection to two important historical topics, each of which attracts considerable scholarly attention but that have never received sustained and careful attention together, namely, the early modern histories of the Jesuit order and of Iberian "purity of blood" concerns. An analysis of the pro- and anti-converso texts in this book (both in terms of what they are claiming and what their limits are) advance our understanding of early modern, institutional Catholicism at the intersection of early modern religious reform and the new racism developing in Spain and spreading outwards.

Die marktwirtschaftliche OEffnung Polens, die Anfang der 90er Jahre einsetzte, hat viele grundlegende AEnderungen in der Wirtschafts- und Gesellschaftsordnung des Landes mit sich gebracht. Von grosser Bedeutung war die Schaffung eines modernen Kreditwesens. Mit der fortschreitenden Privatisierung des Bankensystems haben sich jedoch gleichzeitig betrachtliche Lucken im Dienstleistungsangebot der privaten Geschaftsbanken offenbart. Angesichts dieser Situation wird im Rahmen dieser Studie uberlegt, ob man die Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego - das letzte polnische Kreditinstitut, das sich noch in oeffentlichem Besitz befindet - als eine Wirtschaftsfoerderungsbank fur Polen einsetzen koennte. In vorgelegten Gesetz- und Satzungsentwurfen zur Neuorganisation der BGK wurden Ansatze vorgeschlagen, die die Bank in eine moderne Wirtschaftsfoerderungsfinanzierungsinstitution umgestalten sollen.

Paintings and photos are analysed using qualitative methods from the social sciences as well as from the art analysis tradition. The novelty of the presented approach rests in the original method of parallel dialogues, taking place both in the institutional sphere and between co-authors. It complements academic rigour with elements of digression and free conversation, revealing a variety of nuances for which conventional research paradigms do not always allow.
