Judith Butler (f. 1956) er en af vores samtids mest indflydelsesrige filosoffer. Hun brød igennem med det banebrydende værk Kønsballade, som er en af de grundlæggende tekster i ”queer-teori”. Siden har hun udgivet en række betydelige værker inden for blandt andet politisk filosofi, feminisme og etik. Hendes indflydelse strækker sig ind i mange forskellige discipliner, men også ind i den offentlige debat.
