Bosnian Authors in a European Window

Bosnian Authors in a European Window

The study compares three Bosnian authors with three European titans: The poet Mak Dizdar to Homer, the novelist Meša Selimovic to Fyodor Dostoevsky, and the novelist Ivo Andric to Leo Tolstoy. The purpose is to move the appreciation of the writing of the most important Bosnian writers of the 20th century closer to the European literary community and to the wholeness of the literary phenomenon. Secondary literature on the Bosnian authors is too narrow, focusing on their ethnic heritages and the Balkan milieu in which they write and missing something essential to a critical appreciation of their works. The study creates not only affinities but, more importantly, amitiés between the authors. The discipline of comparative literature reveals what is missing in the secondary literature, namely, a vision of the literary universe, inclusive and comprehensive.

VOLUME - 1 100 Poems I've always been of the belief that poetry shouldn't be elitist, but instead should be a medium that all can enjoy without scholarly interpretation. Take away "Roses are Red", and a certain limerick about a gentleman from Nantucket, and I'm afraid many of us would be hard pressed to recite a poem of our liking, that wasn't learned by rote during our school days. So what's my "go to" style you may be asking? It's definitely rhyme-poetry, and my subject matter is as broad and deep as the world we live in. I am fascinated by everything, and my curiosity continually leads me to write on new topics. My commitment is to craft a story of interest on the particular topic. I am obsessive in choosing the right combination of words, and creating it within a tight rhyme format. My goal is that it's a pleasurable experience for the reader, being easy to follow, and rewarding to read. So now, celebrating forty years of writing poetry, and with hundreds of poems to offer, I have decided to begin sharing my collection.

Linguistic Meaning (RLE Linguistics A: General Linguistics)
Dr Keith Allan presents a coherent, consistent and comprehensive account of linguistic meaning, centred around an informally presented theory of meaning. It is intended for graduate and undergraduate students of linguistics, or any linguist curious about what a theory of meaning should seek to accomplish and the way to achieve that aim.The work assumes that the primary task of a theory of linguistic meaning is to describe the meaning of speech acts. This in turn presupposes a theory of semantics and a theory of prosodic meaning, as well as a proper treatment of the co-operative principle, context and background information. These matters are dealt with in detail. The second task of a theory of linguistic meaning is to identify what meaning is, to explain the relationships between sense and denotation, and to explicate the nature of meaningful properties and meaning relations. These matters are fully covered, and the work concludes with a summary of the principle arguments presented.
