Season of Skulls: A Novel in the World of the Laundry Files
Season of Skulls continues Hugo Award-winning author Charles Stross's Lovecraftian Laundry Files series. Welcome to the sunlit uplands of the 21st century Britain's avuncular Prime Minister is an ancient eldritch god of unimaginable power. Crime is plummeting as almost every offense is punishable by death. And everywhere you look, there are people with strange powers, some of which they can control, and some, not so much. Hyperorganized and formidable, Eve Starkey defeated her boss, the louche magical adept and billionaire Rupert de Montfort Bigge, in a supernatural duel to the death. At least, she has reason to hope he's dead. But though she's now in charge of the Bigge Corporation, she's not free of him yet. Through the fecklessness of her brother Imp, combined with the intricate feudal law of a tiny Channel Island, it would appear that unbeknownst to her, she was married to Bigge--and that proving his death and releasing herself from his arcane bindings will take years and cost millions. Then an emissary of the Prime Minister arrives with an offer that she absolutely can't...well, you know. This is the final novel in the trilogy that began with Dead Lies Dreaming and continued with Quantum of Nightmares.

The road to mental and physical recovery is a tedious one, but with the help of loved ones, they not only survive, but thrive. Even so, Jos swears off relationships and the carnal pleasures she usually enjoys and have grown accustomed to until a night out on the town reminds her of what she is missing in the sack. Her life as she has come to know it changes after a chance meeting with a virile Doron, who not only sweeps her off her feet, but gives her a second chance at everything she believed would have forever been missing from her life. Although challenges in her career and personal life threaten what she is now building, she manages, in her usual Jos fashion, to rise above the ashes. In the end, she comes out victorious when things fall perfectly into place, and she is more hopeful than ever before about what lies ahead.

Many of costumers always ask me to tell them about stories I encounter in my job as a cab driver. For example I was taking a Canadian tourist to Newark airport in New Jersey; a nice young man. During our conversation he asked me to share some of the stories we cab drivers encounter with our job. During the journey, I shared some of the stories with him. When we got to the airport, he told me he really enjoyed my stories and if he had time, he would listen to some more. I asked him for his email address so I could send him some online. Two days later, he wrote back to me and asked me if I have ever considered putting these stories into a book. Who would want to read these stories? I asked myself. But what really motivated me to write this book is my encounter with a lady I picked up on a Saturday morning on York Avenues in Manhattan. She got into the car, and noticed a can of beer under a seat. She picked it up and let me know about it. "People are not nice; this is probably a drunken passenger who left this here." She said. "Certainly, but this is nothing compare to other things that happen all the time." I told her. "I can imagine; have you ever thought about putting all these stories into writing? It can become a best seller." I laughed and tried to change the subject but she insisted. "I am serious, I am a business woman and I know how it is worth trying. Trust me you have nothing to lose." She added. Her voice was so sincere and convincing that I gave it a try. I started writing. Every day, I come home, I tried to put a story in writing and that is how I put this book together. This book is about some of the stories cab drivers encounter every day, some funny, some emotional and even some strange. These are just stories that tell about behavior we are all familiar with, but never thought would happen in a Taxi cab. Names used in these stories are fictional.
