Israel's Messiah

Israel's Messiah

For most of church history, the Catholic dogma of the Trinity has supplanted the original Jewish understanding of God's incarnation in the Messiah that was taught in the New Testament Scriptures. But the Jews were never trinitarian in their understanding of Yahweh's self-revelation. So, why is the evangelical Christian church described as trinitarian in her orthodoxy? The forgotten reality is that the Messiah Jesus and his apostles were Jewish and would have understood the nature of God exactly as Moses and the prophets had. They knew Yahweh as a single person Deity. Therefore, whenever Jesus or the apostles would speak of God or his Spirit, they would never deviate from that Mosaic understanding. And so, when we read of the gospel being presented to the Gentiles in the book of Acts, there is no introduction or controversy about the idea of the Trinity at all. This book will argue for the pure scriptural revelation of the Christology that the Jewish apostles proclaimed and defended, and will provide a definitive refutation of the Catholic fiction by appealing to the verbalized convictions and assertions of Moses and the prophets, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Jewish apostles, which cannot sustain the Trinity.
Israel's Governability Crisis

Israel's Governability Crisis

This book examines the governability crisis faced by Israeli governmental institutions. For a long period of time, observers of Israel’s government have reported the same phenomena: instability in most political positions not allowing for proper policy design, enhanced control of the bureaucracy over the policy making process, and complete uncertainty regarding the implementation of policies by the bureaucracy. However, while one expects that with such a toxic combination of all the wrong policy making components Israel would collapse, Israel has been able to achieve quite impressive landmarks in its overall performance. During the first decade of the 21st century, Israel became an OECD member and enjoyed high growth when the world was facing stagnation and economic collapse. Israel’s government, which regularly faces quandaries in a variety of policy fields, is able to initiate large scale policies when needed. Yet, this same government refrains from initiating large-scale reforms in institutional structures. Hence, for analysts of political institutions, the Israeli state of affairs is one of choice: while initiating changes to reform and overhaul the Israeli institutional system is possible it is also perilous. To cope with that duality Israeli political leadership on all sides has developed a variety of mechanisms that allow them to provide the policy output needed so as to maintain the status-quo. This book examines these mechanisms as they exist in different facets of government work and explains their output and persistence. Examples include coalitional making and breaking, the ways in which ruling coalitions maneuver in parliament, and policy design and implementation. The book also explores the problem that exists in Israel’s governability: the lack of a strategic high-order far sighted decision making. Finally, it offers a method of electoral reform that can address both of these systemic maladies.
Israel and Its Arab Minority, 1948–2008
Using a balanced approach, this study provides a comprehensive picture of the Arab sector over six decades. It examines what, when, and why the Arab minority in Israel chooses to either negotiate with the government or turn to protest or violence in order to change the status quo. This book offers a unique framework for further scholarly writings and enables policy makers, in any given situation, to identify the best policy to implement towards national minorities in order to reduce the possibility of tensions, violence, and escalation. These policies should not just involve making decisions to decrease a minority’s grievances, but should also aim to understand what type of leadership is guiding the minority in order to lower the chance of clashes between the parties.

For forty years, the neoconservatives have been an influential wing on the American Right. Their critics accuse them of being more loyal to a foreign government than to American interests. But is that true? In this book, the author argues that their support of Israel is rooted just as much in their liberal-democratic priorities.

Israel’s Military Doctrine

Israel’s Military Doctrine

Israel’s military doctrine was aimed at defeating powerful Arab militaries, mostly those of Egypt, Syria and Jordan. In the years 1948-1982 Israel and Arab states had a series of wars i.e. high intensity wars. Israel, since 1948, also dealt with guerrilla and terror attacks. Since 1982 and mostly in the last 15 years Israel faced hybrid forces, Hamas and Hezbollah. Those groups are a mix between a conventional military and a guerrilla group. Israel fought against Hezbollah in Lebanon in 2006 and against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, mostly in two wars, in 2008-2009 and in 2014. This book begins with explaining Israel’s national security policy. Then it focuses on how the IDF (Israel defense forces) had to adjust its doctrine and build up to confront hybrid forces, by examining Israel’s air and the ground corps and major issues such as offense and defense, infrastructure and manpower. The IDF can inflict heavy casualties and damages to a hybrid foe. Yet destroying the latter is a tall order because Hezbollah and Hamas are too elusive, they hide inside populated areas etc. However, compared with past wars against Arab states, there is much less danger to Israel let alone to its survival since even a coalition between Hezbollah, Hamas and other groups can’t defeat the IDF. Furthermore since fighting a hybrid force is less demanding than running a high intensity war against an Arab state, then Israel does not rely that much on the United States in receiving weapon systems, ammunition and spare parts.
