Who am I, and how do I see myself. The issue of identity is central to our ability to take hold of all God has for us, and impacts on our ability to fulfil our God ordained destiny. Our sense of self starts to be shaped by a range of factors from a very early age, and continues to be constantly moulded by our personal interactions with others and life events. Some of the factors that shape how we see ourselves include our family, ethnicity, education, occupational status, friendships, peer groups, religious affiliations, gender, nation of origin and so on.Our mental self-portrait, that sense of who we are, influences every part of our life. It affects our sense of well-being, and our sense of personal significance. Those with a strong and confident sense of who they are, are not affected by the criticism or praise of others, they radiate strength, courage, life, love and hope. Those struggling with an inadequate self- image look to others people's opinions, praise, or criticisms as the determining factors in how they feel and think about themselves at a particular moment, and thus become slaves to the opinions of others. As a result they are not free to be themselvesPeter wants us to see ourselves through God's eyes. When we understand what took place at the cross we see we were immersed into His death, and united into the very life of Christ. We were permanently grafted into Christ. He in us and we in Him. His death was our death, His resurrection was also our resurrection. We were raised with Him and seated with Him in the heavenly places. Through our co-crucifixion with Him our body of sin was destroyed, and we were raised a whole new creation, a form of humanity for which Jesus was the prototype. Redeemed man would now carry the divine nature inside them. "Divine Union" explores the implications of union with the Godhead, taking you on an intimate journey through the Song of Solomon. It explores what it means to be co-heirs with Christ, and it promises to set people free from the false belief that we still have a fallen flesh life to battle.The work of the cross forever changed who we are, and should radically effect how we see ourselves.
