The story of Ruth has captivated Christian believers for centuries, not least of all because she is one of only two women with books of the Bible named after them. Now, Diana Wallis Taylor animates this cherished part of the Old Testament, with its unforgettable cast of characters. Experience Ruth's elation as a young bride--and her grief at finding herself a widow far before her time. Witness the unspeakable relief of Naomi upon hearing her daughter-in-law promise never to leave her. And celebrate with Boaz when, after years as a widower, he discovers love again, with a woman he first found gleaning in his field. The story of this remarkable woman to whom Jesus Christ traced His lineage comes to life in the pages of this dramatic retelling.

Born in a rustic cabin surrounded by mountains, lakes, and forests, Ruth Masters grew up with a deep love and respect for the natural world. As an avid mountaineer and backcountry guide in the wilderness of Strathcona Provincial Park on Vancouver Island, she knew firsthand how precious the land was and how important it was to protect it. For years, Ruth fought against the harmful practices of logging, damming, mining, and trophy hunting. She was always on the frontlines of protests, raising her voice against those who wanted to exploit the environment for profit. Even when people got angry at her, Ruth never gave up her cause. This inspiring picture book celebrates Ruth's passion for the environment and encourages young readers to find their inner activist

Ruth found favor with Boaz when her first priority was her relationship with God and serving her mother-in-law. Esther found favor with the King when her first priority was her relationship with God and serving Mordechai. Neither woman saw themselves as someone God would choose to affect the entire nation of Israel. But God worked providentially in each woman's life.

Ruth Erdt adresses so-called everyday matters, and operates in the field of tension between authenticity and fiction. Her restrained and peaceful images seem to hover on the threshold where normality switches over into direct action. Lars Muller Publishers is continuing its examination of free photography at the interface with art, following Peter Tillesen's "Gold" and Jules Spinatsch's "Brand New Animals".
Ruth Lauer Manenti: 4 Sides of the Table
An intimate reflection on loss, mourning and memory, made manifest through Manenti's spectral black-and-white photography Upon receiving a large-format camera in 2012, the American photographer Ruth Lauer Manenti (born 1968) at last accessed a poetic sensibility she had first sought within drawing and painting. Her spectral photographs evoke the ephemeral motion of life and the vertiginous memories it impresses. In her new series, 4 Sides of The Table, made from 2022 to 2024, Manenti continues her meditation upon time's passage. The inciting image for this series emerged from an intimate, sorrowful scene: her mother's best friend, June, reading poetry as Manenti's mother lay dying in bed. In the wake of loss, Manenti found within June a maternal replacement. She began photographing June in segmented parts from various angles: hands, legs, front, back, partial views. When June's own daughter unexpectedly died, Manenti, too, became a replacement. Together, Manenti and June document the poignant work of mourning--the effort to preserve the unseen through new material forms.

A generation removed from the Light and Space artists of the '60s, Pastine nonetheless continues their legacy through her luminous, streamlined paintings Born in New York and based in California, Ruth Pastine (born 1964) is known for her minimalist color field paintings and multi-panel installations evocative of the Light and Space movement. For more than 40 years, she has pursued a phenomenological investigation of visual perception through paint's relative qualities of color, saturation and depth.
