All my life I have done what my family wanted. I have performed and made them happy. Until now. Now I have broken out on my own Sarah Tracy has spent her entire life under constant supervision, always under the thumb of one older sibling or another. Now, at eighteen it's time for her to get married, so she is sent to dinner parties, plays, teas, soirees, talks, and chaperoned walks -- always accompanied, always watched. Sarah's tired of it -- tired of being shipped around, tired of being reminded that it's time to find a suitable husband. She knows that a husband is definitely not what she wants. But the year is 1861 and it's not proper for girls of Sarah's age to be single or independent. Then Sarah sees an advertisement looking for a young woman to oversee Mount Vernon, the beloved, though now dilapidated, family home of George Washington. Intent on securing the position, she lies to her family and her potential employer, and she becomes mistress of this decaying symbol of American freedom. And then comes the American Civil War. As battles rage around her, Sarah is determined to create a haven of peace at Mount Vernon. With consummate skills, feminine wiles, and a true sense of diplomacy, Sarah single-handedly manages to keep Mount Vernon out of the war. But while she is able to influence generals, soldiers, and even the president, she learns she doesn't hold such sway over her own heart -- as she also discovers true love. Based on a true story, this is the amazing tale of one girl's path to womanhood.
Sarah Lahey (4338.209.1 - 4338.214.2)

As her investigation draws her deeper into the shadows, her tangled relationship with fellow detective Karl Jenkins blurs the lines between ally and liability. Together, they face a darkening path that tests their bond and the very heart of their resolve. "Sarah Lahey" weaves a tale of relentless pursuit and suspense, where the quest for truth risks more than just a partnership-it tempts a treacherous fate.

Sarah Palin's Piece of the American Pie: A wake-up Call for Mainstream America

In Sarah Palin's Piece of the American Pie, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Rosemary Bachelor asks whether Palin is an American patriot or a political pawn in the foreplay to the 2012 presidential election. A partial response to Palin's Going Rogue: An American Life, Bachelor's smartly written, pitch-perfect political expos is unapologetically biased and leaves no stone unearthed in trying to crack the riddle of one of the most enigmatic cause c l bres the country has ever known. Bachelor writes: "Many sideline observers of Sarah's upward and onward trajectory express concern about all the things she doesn't know. It may, however, be time to also be disturbed about what Sarah thinks she does know." In eight fully annotated, thought-provoking chapters such as "Sarah Palin's Politics: A New World Recipe?," "At Issue: The Ingredients," and "Sarah Palin's Patriotism: Which Way to Slice It?," Bachelor pulls no punches in uncovering what Palin stands for and what she, or those who control her, hope to accomplish. The author also expresses concern for the American image abroad, saying: "Some onlookers, many of them in Canada and the European nations, sense in the United States an unstable marriage of politics and religion that projects a very fundamentalist world view. Its wedding cake is decorated with incendiary ideas for domination of the Mideast, ideas which intrigue Jews and terrify Muslims." Beyond Palin's ability to rally fellow countrymen with fiery rhetoric, Palin's plainspoken battle cries are often hollow of meaning and intent. Bachelor contends that Palin didn't get where she is by having "facts in her toolbox," which means the former governor of Alaska is either laughing all the way to the bank, or is being taken advantage of by the Republican Party, the Tea Party - or both. Bachelor takes a fairly liberal approach in her inquiries into Palin's sense of patriotism and religious freedom, as well as Palin's stance on priority issues, but this author ultimately lets readers resolve Palin's political motivation and credibility on their own. Bachelor reminds us that knowing how to run a family, how to govern a state which has surplus funds, and how to run a world superpower are entirely different. Kids don't fight with jet planes, bombs and high tech guns; and, Alaska has about the same population as Indianapolis, Indiana. Among other probing fodder, Bachelor questions why Palin hasn't distanced herself from her more radical followers, such as the white supremacists and militia groups, and how Palin can have dual allegiance to two parties. This book is subtitled "A wake-up Call for Mainstream America" because Bachelor believes that there are Americans all over the nation who are not conservatives, do have family values and religious faith, and are top grade patriots. The energy which goes into finger-pointing around such issues as abortion and gay marriage, she says, needs to be channeled into a unified vision of a cleaner, safer and economically prosperous America whose citizens enjoy a more wholesome and less stressful way of life. In pointing to the difference between patriotism and nationalism, Bachelor has this to say: "We have poked our noses into a lot of pigeon holes and found that patriotism is not a simple slogan, but instead a complex crocheting together of various ideals. Instead of flag-waving, it is more an attempt to stitch together a national fabric, an American tapestry that depicts us as moral, humane and responsible citizens." With a behind-the-scenes crackdown that follows the Tea Party's financial supporters, Bachelor highlights the contradictions between the Palin the public thinks it knows, and the Palin they should get to know. We all deserve a piece of the American pie. Here's to making sure all Americans have a slice.

Sexual abuse is a taboo topic for men. Even when we hear the stories, we close one ear to the plight of the victim. We dismiss them as helpless or deserving. Rarely does anyone take an honest, fair, and objective look into the lives of these survivors to find out what makes them who they are. In turn, we are rarely given the opportunity to understand the issue to properly bring awareness and educate future generations to stop the cycle."Sarah Had Blessings, Too" is an intriguing and responsible work that dives into the lives of four Chicago friends. Francisco Knight is a high powered real estate broker who was adopted into a rich family as a child, but fell prey to the eccentric appetites of the rich and powerful and now copes through an endless stream of drugs and loveless sex. His assistant, Evan Terwilliger, is openly gay. And while he was not molested as a child, he puts an unrealistic amount of pressure on himself to stay perfect in the competitive and sometimes shallow gay dating scene. Antonio Ward is a husband and father of a three-year-old girl who runs one of the hippest restaurants in the city, The Savoy. As a young alter server, he was abused by a priest and now battles porn addiction, feelings of inadequacy, and a broken relationship with God. And Grant Harrison is a server at The Savoy who was never officially molested, but learned at a very young age that it pays to be beautiful, especially in a world of rich men who felt entitled to beautiful things. No longer willing to live off of what others want him to have, Grant makes a power move that inadvertently propels everyone into self reflection. When pretending is no longer an option, the four friends help each other gain understanding, perspective, and true insight to themselves and the world around them. But, this is not without drama, as the powers that be come against the evolving kings. Will Franc learn to love anyone? Will Evan learn to love himself? Will Antonio learn to love God again? And will Grant learn to let others love him? The journey to the palace will certainly have speed bumps, but as the four friends would soon find out, sometimes the ending is more important than the beginning. And sometimes, the ending is just the beginning itself.

Sarah Palin Out of Nowhere is one of the most dynamic books any reader will ever read with an explosion of information. It reveals how Frank Aquila created, organized, and marketed a political grassroots organization called the South San Joaquin Republicans as a "political outsider" while working full time, coaching and raising two young boys as a single father just outside the liberal San Francisco Bay Area. Sarah Palin Out of Nowhere provides a biography of Governor Palin's life and her views on various issues. Frank reveals the actual email correspondence he had with the McCain campaign and the detailed telephone conversation he had prior to Senator McCain's announcement of Governor Palin as his vice presidential nominee. Frank explains why he lobbied for Governor Palin, how she electrified the presidential ticket and how Governor Palin has the same qualities of President Ronald Reagan. Frank reveals who the real media is and why they have been so hostile to Governor Palin and other conservatives. He compares and contrasts the media bias against Governor Palin as compared to the media protection and assistance to then Senator Barack Obama, exposing his past history and those who have influenced his political advancement. Frank inserts several letters throughout the book on a variety of issues including "Why I am a Republican", "The Collapse of Social Security", "The Abortion Business", "The Democrats Failure of Black America", "Who Caused This Economic Crisis?", "Democrats Energy Plan = High Gas", "Is America a Christian Nation?", "Why Amercia was attacked on September 11, 2011?", "Have We Forgotten September 11, 2001?" along with other articles. He also reveals the Communist Manifesto and their plan to change America into a nation controlled by the government. Frank shows how America is being pulled in two different directions: One from President Obama's view of large government controlling America in a socialist-communist style America and Governor Palin, who has become the face of the T.E.A. Party movement for a view of small government, similar to the principles of "limited government" established by our founding fathers through the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution. Finally, Frank offers his "Solutions for America" and explains what role Governor Palin will play in the future of America. This explosive book is a must have for any conservative to be informed on the issues and to use to fight back against large socialist style government and liberal philosophies. .
