Sie binden irdisches Wohlergehen zuruck an Gottes Gnadenwirken, ordnen irdische Obrigkeit ein in dieses Geschehen und beschreiben das gesellschaftliche Zusammenleben als angewiesen auf Gottes Segen. Auch wenn sich das Verstandnis politischer Ordnungen seit ihrer Komposition entscheidend gewandelt hat, bieten Bachs Ratswahlkantaten auch heute das Potential zu einer uberzeugenden Gestaltung von Kantatengottesdiensten.
