Born in London in 1943, Stephen Willats is a pioneer of conceptual art and has, over the course of more than five decades, created a multi-faceted body of work. This new book, published in conjunction with Migros Museum of Contemporary Art in Zurich, focuses on two key aspects of Willats' art. Cybernetics, the control of dynamic systems, in which he has taken a keen interest, serves him as method, aesthetic vocabulary, as well as a formal model. Subcultures that promote non-conformism and self-determination constitute another focal point in his wide-ranging work. The book offers a new approach to Willats' art from multiple perspectives. A comprehensive selection of both earlier and more recent works, some of them published here for the first time, is complemented by essays. The authors investigate that particular creative sphere in between cybernetics, architecture, and subculture within which Willats questions normative, regulating power structures and aims to discover personal freedom and alternative thought patterns.

This presentation of the life and work of the architect Stephen Paraskevopoulos, professor at the School of Architecture at the University of Michigan from 1954 to 1976, documents his multifaceted work as a teacher, researcher, inventor and visionary. His interest in international development, in the optimal use of modern technology and the need for research for the industrial production of new building materials and methods, especially plastics, led him to pioneering applications in architecture and urban planning. Stephen Paraskevopoulos was born in Athens in 1926. He graduated from the School of Architectural Engineering of the NTUA in 1951 and from the University of Michigan in 1955. From 1954 to 1976 he pursued an academic career at the University of Michigan, in addition to many administrative positions, including chair of the Doctoral Program in Architecture and director of the University Architectural Research. Paraskevopoulos is considered a pioneer in the field of architecture and urban planning, not only regarding concept design and the research and final design phase, but also in the implementation of the projects. His work and research had international presence and impact and was awarded many distinctions. The text in this book is presented in both Greek and English.

Im ersten Abschnitt wird die theoretische Perspektive erl utert, die der Untersuchung zugrunde liegt. Der zweite Abschnitt n hert sich theoretisch und interpretativ dem Untersuchungsgegenstand anhand von f nf Diskussionsachsen: seinem Institutionalisierungsprozess, mikropolitischen Widerstandshandlungen, Regelm igkeiten und Br chen, der Organisation in Bezug auf den Praxiskontext und den Verbindungen zwischen AA und Studienanf ngern sowie zwischen Ersteren und der TZ. Der dritte Teil befasst sich mit den Annahmen ber den Hochschulzugang, die die unterschiedlichen Bedeutungen des Zugangs pr gen. This book shares the study, from a micropolitical perspective, of the relationships between the context of production and practice (Ball, 2002) of a university policy called "Programa Acompa ante Alumno" PAA, 2005-2010] of the Universidad Nacional de La Pampa-Arg. UNLPam], aimed at the admission and permanence of its incoming students. It is organized in six sections. The first one mentions the theoretical perspective that guided the research. The second, approaches theoretically and interpretatively the object of study from five axes of discussion: its institutionalization process, micropolitical actions of resistance, regularities and ruptures, the organization in relation to the context of practice and the links between AA-entry students and between the former and the TC. The third considers assumptions about university entrance that configure different meanings about it. The fourth considers the evaluations made of the PAA by the AAs and the TC. As for the fifth, new explanatory dimensions of the research problem are revealed. Finally, final reflections and challenges to problematize educational policies from the proposed approach.

Boken omhandler opprinnelsen til det samiske skriftspråk. En engelsk sjøfarer drev på land på Kolahalvøya i 1557 da båten hans ble ødelagt. Han bodde hos kolasamene og med seg hadde han en papegøye som barna lærte samisk. Under oppholdet laget Stephen Borrough en samisk-engelsk ordliste med 95 ord og uttrykk.
