During the last decade, rapid growth of knowledge in the field of jet, rocket, nuclear, ion and electric propulsion has resulted in many advances useful to the student, engineer and scientist. The purpose for offering this course is to make available to them these recent advances in theory and design. Accordingly, this course is organized into seven parts: Part 1 Introduction; Part 2 Jet Propulsion; Part 3 Rocket Propulsion; Part 4 Nuclear Propulsion; Part 5 Electric and Ion Propulsion; Part 6 Theory on Combustion, Detonation and Fluid Injection; Part 7 Advanced Concepts and Mission Applications. It is written in such a way that it may easily be adopted by other universities as a textbook for a one semester senior or graduate course on the subject. This monograph has been written from our convic- tion that the present notions of the state of wa- ter in osmotic systems are obscure, if not incor- rect. The basic ideas presented herein are for us not original, but they have previously been ig- nored. We shall attempt again to bring the essen- tial concepts to the attention of the functional biologist with the hope that they will be duly considered and accepted. We even dare to expect that many will be able to recognize the inherent beauty in the old idea that all colligative pro- perties of water stem exclusively from the fact that the water is under tension, regardless of the particular process by which it has been placed under tension in the biological system. The ideas are so simple and so obvious that we are amazed biologists have not already recognized their va- lidity even without the assistance of physical chemistry and chemical thermodynamics, which deal with the subject of water under pressure in solu- tions and in matrices. We expect that drawing at- tention to experimental evidence heretofore not available will assist the more conservative phys- iologist to reconsider and reject fictitious no- tions about the properties of water in a solution.

Tom Noltings meget kontroversielle holdninger omkring de to atombomber USA kastede over Japan og hans 'Brainstorm over Manhattan og Dresden' om atomkapl bet betragtet gennem en tysk optik var allerede udgivet af et forlag i London - en bog, som ogs s tter et stort sp rgsm lstegn ved hele det moralske koncept bag de milit re operationer de sidste 3-4 m neder af krigen. Tom n r ogs at f udgivet en bog om j deforf lgelsen i Europa, som er et direkte angreb mp navngivne lande og regeringer, som officielt tog afstand fra Nazitysklands deportationer af j derne, men uofficielt selv leverede tusindvis af j der til de tyske koncentrationslejre. Tom bliver jagtet og jaget som et vildt dyr af presse og medier og v lger at blive usynlig og forsvinde, men kort f r sit exit st r han alligevel frem og forklarer sig over for pressen. Seksten dage senere er det hele slut: I medierne hedder det sig, at Tom Nolting under et frygteligt uvejr er styrtet i d den p en klatretur dybt inde i Karwendelbjergene.

Tom overf rer samme koncept p sine forskellige intellektuelle aktiviteter og g rem l, hvilket imidlertid ikke medf rer den totalstyring, han havde dr mt om, men snarere det stik modsatte.
