This Book explains the concept of traffic noise emerging from different types of pavement such as asphalt and concrete pavements. It is based on experimental and analytical work on a federal highway in Southern province of Malaysia (Johor) named as Skudai - Pontian highway. Both types of pavement have been analysed for peak and off-peak traffic conditions. Traffic Noise emerging from pavements was modelled using SPSS software.

In Afghanistan sind Brennholz, Holzkohle, Ernter ckst nde und tierischer D nger die Hauptbrennstoffe auf der Basis von Biomasse, die haupts chlich im Haushaltssektor verwendet werden. Aufgrund der derzeitigen Energieknappheit und der Verf gbarkeit von Biomasse-Ressourcen im Land muss Afghanistan die rationelle Nutzung von Biomasse-Energie in verschiedenen Sektoren verbessern. Ma nahmen zur rationellen Nutzung von Energie aus Biomasse sind ohne entsprechende Forschungsarbeiten in diesem Bereich nicht praktikabel. Um diese L cke zu f llen, wurde diese Studie in den acht Zonen Afghanistans durchgef hrt.

Tungsten carbide cobalt coating has been extensively used for cutting and mining tools, aerospace, automotive and other wear resistance applications. These coatings not only have superior mechanical properties like high hardness, toughness and compressive strength but have also excellent controllable tribological properties. Nanocrystalline coatings can provide combination of high hardness and high toughness which otherwise are exclusive properties. But in the case of High Velocity Oxyfuel (HVOF) sprayed nanocrystalline WC-cobalt coatings, a higher degree of decarburization is reported in the published literature. This results in porosity and brittle phases formation in the coating structures. This in turn results in higher wear rate of nanocrystalline WC-cobalt coatings. In this study HVOF sprayed coatings made from duplex cobalt coated near-nanocrystalline WC-cobalt powders is used. The purpose of using these powders is to address the issue of decarburization and porosity formation in the coatings.
