This book presents cybersecurity aspects of ubiquitous and growing IoT and Cyber Physical Systems. It also introduces a range of conceptual, theoretical, and foundational access control solutions. This was developed by the authors to provide an overall broader perspective and grounded approach to solve access control problems in IoT and CPS.The authors discuss different architectures, frameworks, access control models, implementation scenarios, and a broad set of use-cases in different IoT and CPS domains. This provides readers an intuitive and easy to read set of chapters. The authors also discuss IoT and CPS access control solutions provided by key industry players including Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). It provides extensions of the authors proposed fine grained solutions with these widely used cloud and edge supported platforms. This book is designed to serve the computer science and the cybersecurity community including researchers, academicians and students. Practitioners who have a wider interest in IoT, CPS, privacy and security aspects will also find this book useful. Thanks to the holistic planning and thoughtful organization of this book, the readers are expected to gain in-depth knowledge of the state-of-the-art access control architectures and security models for resilient IoT and CPS.

Green Nanomaterials as Potential Antimicrobials

Green Nanomaterials as Potential Antimicrobials

This book focuses on nanomaterials with antibacterial properties. Antibacterial resistance is a growing concern that poses a serious threat to public health worldwide. This book looks at the fabrication, material's properties, and characterization of a range of metallic, bimetallic, and metal-oxide-based nanomaterials that can be exploited for their antimicrobial properties. A key focus of this book is its emphasis on ‘green’ synthesis of nanomaterials, as many conventional routes of nanomaterial fabrication do not fulfill key sustainability criteria in terms of their toxicity and lack of eco-friendliness. Additionally, this book introduces the application of nanoparticles to veterinary medicine. Given the ever-increasing global livestock population coupled with the emergence of drug-resistant pathogens of animal origin (bacterial, parasitic, and hemoprotozoa), the use of nanoparticles as antibacterial agents represents a paradigm shift in every aspect of veterinary care. Authored by scholars with combined expertise in nanomaterials and veterinary medicine, this book provides valuable information for researchers working on sustainable nanomaterials with antibacterial properties.

This book spotlights a complex art collection established at the intersection of modern art and social justice. In 1963, as civil rights protests swirled across the fiercely segregated state, this historically Black college became an unlikely hub in Mississippi envisioned as “an interracial oasis in which the fine arts are the focus and magnet.” Since its founding in 1869 by the abolitionist-led American Missionary Association, Tougaloo College has made the fight for equality central to its mission. In 1963, Tougaloo became the nexus for modern art in Mississippi, when leaders of the New York art world began a rich program of art acquisitions. This publication features two essays and approximately thirty-five selections from this distinctive collection by diverse artists such as Francis Picabia, Jacob Lawrence, and Alma Thomas.
