The Consciousness of the Historical Jesus

The Consciousness of the Historical Jesus

In this book, Austin Stevenson argues that it is not the ‘divinity’ of Jesus that causes problems for historians, but his humanity. To insist that Jesus was fully human, as both theologians and historians do, still leaves us with the question of what it means to be human. It turns out that theologians and historians often have different answers to this question on both a philosophical and a theological register. Furthermore, historians frequently misunderstand the historiographical implications of classical Christology, and thus the compatibility between traditional beliefs about Jesus and critical historical inquiry. Through close engagement with the thought of Thomas Aquinas (c. 1225–74), this book offers a new path toward the reconciliation of these disciplines by focusing on human knowledge and subjectivity, which are central issues in both historical method and Christology. By interrogating and challenging the normative metaphysical assumptions operative in Jesus scholarship, a range of possibility is opened up for approaches to Jesus that are genuinely historical, but not naturalistic.

Apart from a surprising change of heart and bid for sympathy at the final momen's of this version of the classic story, Todd glories in his villainies throughout and gleefully slaughters right and left until the cast is almost eliminated. Commendably, the'story is treated seriously and 'guying' is discouraged.3 women, 8 men, 2 boys

Heart Sutra《心经》: Symphony No. 2 Gir第二交响乐《格》for Choir, Soprano, and
"Heart Sutra (心經) " in third movement, Soul - Induction - Call This movement was completed in "unconscious" condition. Before writing, a friend sent me a lot of songs for "Heart Sutra (心經) ", a wide range of variety. I listened all carefully. But after listening, I felt that all are the popular ordinary songs, and all sound no big difference. In writing the first two movements, I gradually and more and more clearly felt that there is an inner driving force to go with hexatonic scale system. The 12-tone systems of notes are divided into two perfectly symmetrical, each group containing one of the six notes. Because it is completely symmetrical, applying mathematical concept, as long as one group is expressed, another group of expression is exactly the same, with just half a degree sound out of the phase only. So how shall the music development employ the hexatonic scale system? I thought about the application of the 12 tone sequence method. In the Heart Sutra, my understanding is that the most important rule is that smaller scale lives or matters are reflected in the large-scale universe, or in other words, they are the same in an imaginary cross-section view.In structural arrangements in the music, I used three systems to reflect the understanding. First is a large cycle, the music beginning from B to end at A flat. Inside the large cycle, there is a series of small cycles. Strings pace in quarter notes, and woodwinds cycle twice as slower as the pace of the strings in half notes. Thus, the sequences of the different paces follow the same "route". And "you" are "me", and "me" are also among "you". Music sounds very religious, but is quite different from the songs heard ever before, because lack of six tones (half from 12 tones), thus very unique. Why is this? Is it right? I can only explain that it complies with the rule intended. In religions, Buddhism is represented by the symbol commonly known as "Srivatsa" meaning lucky ocean clouds, which divides the world. The two lines of the symbol are exactly the same and symmetrical. Provoking a Christian cross, which consists of two identical straight lines also, divide the world in similar way.

I'm Still Here (Adapted for Young Readers): Loving Myself in a World Not Made for Me
An adaptation of the powerful New York Times bestselling account of growing up Black and female in America, completely rewritten with new stories for young readers Austin Channing Brown's first encounter with race in America came at age seven, when she discovered that her parents had named her Austin to trick future employers into thinking she was a white man. Growing up in majority-white schools and churches, Channing Brown writes, "I had to learn what it means to love Blackness," a journey that led to a lifetime spent navigating America's racial divide as a writer, speaker, and expert helping organizations practice genuine inclusion. In this adaptation of her bestselling and critically acclaimed memoir, she explores how America's racial dynamics show up in the classrooms, friend groups, and conversations kids inhabit every day. "I love being a Black girl," she writes. "And sometimes being a Black girl in America is hard." Covering topics like representation, self-love, allyship, and being Black in public, Brown helps kids nourish their identity and make sense of how they fit into the world. For students navigating a time of racial hostility, and for the adults and educators who care for them, I'm Still Here is an empowering look at the experiences of young Black kids, inviting the reader to confront apathy, find their voice, and discover how Blackness--if we let it--can save us all.
Full of Myself: Black Womanhood and the Journey to Self-Possession
In a time of rising authoritarianism and attacks on personal freedoms, the New York Times bestselling author of I'm Still Here chronicles her efforts to live as her full self in a society that wants women--and Black women in particular--to do anything but that. As an antiracism educator and writer leading through America's cycles of racial unrest, Austin Channing Brown reached a crossroads. "I love my work," she writes, "and I am tired. We are tired. Tired of protesting. Tired of 'saving democracy.' Tired of educating and explaining." She began to ask, "What do I deserve, not just as a citizen but as a human?" Full of Myself answers that question. Weaving personal narrative with perceptive social commentary, Brown offers a look at the mechanisms that limit who Black women are allowed to be--at work, at home, in community--and the defining moments when she decided that self-possession is the justice work she had been made to undervalue. From skinny-dipping in the ocean to becoming a mom, she delves into the drama of life and invites readers to begin defining themselves not as empty vessels to improve the world, but as a people born free in spirit, in hope, in joy. For Black women seeking to understand the true roots of their burnout, or for anyone wondering what it means to live joyfully in a hostile world, Full of Myself is a breath of fresh air and an invitation to full humanity.
