As one of the most brilliant and creative minds of the twentieth century, C. S. Lewis crosses over all literary, philosophical, and religious boundaries. A world-renowned scholar of medieval literature at Oxford University, he was able to write and lecture in such clear, direct language that ordinary men and women were fully able to comprehend the truths he extolled. He was a successful writer, the prolific author of such classic masterpieces as The Screwtape Letters, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Problem of Pain, and Mere Christianity. Moreover, his life was as compelling as his work. This perspective informs the play and feature film Shadowlands, which only reinforces his uniqueness all the more.In this exposition of Lewis's legacy, Terry Glaspey offers a clear view of the character of this extraordinarily gifted man who believed that his sharp mind and rich imagination were to be accompanied by a sense of responsibility to the wider world. Thus this book demonstrates why, two generations after his death, Lewis continues to be numbered among our best-selling authors and our most influential thinkers.

148 pages, 97 illustrations, size 5.5 x 8.5 inches. Originally published under the title The Book of the BSA (Groups B, C and M) by W. C. Haycraft this book is one of The Motorcyclist's Library series published in the USA by Floyd Clymer by arrangement with the original publishers Pitman Ltd. of London, England. This re-print of the 15th edition includes complete technical data, service and maintenance information and detailed instructions for the repair and overhaul of the major mechanical and electrical components for the BSA 250cc, 350cc, 500cc and 600cc B31, B32, B33, B34, C10, C11, C11 De Luxe, M20, M21 and M33 single cylinder OHV & SV series of motorcycles from 1945 through 1959 with the exception of the 1954-59 C10L, C11G, C12, C15 and Gold Star models. There is adequate detailed text and diagrams to assist in major refurbishing such as an engine rebuild or even a complete renovation.A GUIDE TO THE VARIOUS 'BOOK OF THE BSA' EDITIONS FOR OWNERS OF POST WW2 SINGLES THROUGH 1970The 10th, 11th and 12th editions published after the end of WW2 were nothing more than a reprint of the 1936-1939 pre-war 9th edition, each one having and additional 50 page 'supplement' covering the post-war models. Due to the superficial nature of these supplements, they were inadequate in providing overhaul and repair information for owners of the post-war models. However, when the 13th edition was published, the entire publication focused on the post-war B, C and M models up to 1954 and the 1936-1939 pre-war section was eliminated. The 14th edition expanded on the years covered, as did the 15th edition which was the final edition to include the post-war C series models. Therefore, the VelocePress re-print of the 15th edition (ISBN 9781588502292) is of the most use to owners of the 1945 through 1959 post-war B, C and M singles. The 16th and 17th editions continued coverage of the later B and M models (only) and the last edition to cover the B and M series was the 17th edition published in 1968. Therefore, the VelocePress re-print of the 17th edition (ISBN 9781588501561) which covers the 1955 through 1967 models is of most use to owners of the later B and M series motorcycles. Finally, the 1954 and later C models received their own specific 1st edition beginning in 1963. This separate publication went through four different editions, each one expanding on the years covered. Obviously, the most appropriate edition for late model C series 250cc owners would be the VelocePress re-print (ISBN 9781588501585) of the 4th and final edition which covers the 1954 through 1970 models.

Me and the Big C is a book about one woman's journey of heartache, hope, and healing through cancer treatment and the difficult and often rocky road to survivorship. Sue Burris, the author, has experienced cancer from the unique perspective as a parent, child, and patient, and has endured the heartache of losing a sibling to this dreaded disease. Through telling her family's story and her own, the author gives a Christian perspective of navigating trials and questioning one's faith when walking through the valley of the shadow of death. Me and the Big C explores common questions that all Christians have when faced with trials, and shares the heartbreaking experience of prayers that are perceived to be unanswered. It tells of the joys of survivorship, and the terrible pain of losing a loved one to cancer. Me and the Big C is not just a book about cancer, but a book about love, strong families, and overcoming the odds with the help of God. Through writing the book, the author expresses common feelings and also gives insights to truths she learned in dealing with the disease of cancer for over 10 years. She also explores the difficult questions that arise when it seems our fervent prayers go unanswered. Through using the Bible, and insights gained from a degree from the "School of hard knocks", Sue looks at common fears, feelings, and anger associated not only with cancer, but also with many chronic and/or life threatening diseases. Me and the Big C is not just a book about cancer, but also about fear, heartache, and God's great love for us. Readers are encouraged to share this book with family, friends, and especially anyone they know that may be struggling with cancer. Hope is in the reading.

Did you write C code last week? Does your code work? Is your design clean? If you answered yes to the first question but got queasy over the second two, you need to know about Test Driven Development. TDD helps you write code that works the first time, and then helps you keep it running as the code evolves to meet new needs. In Test Driven Development for Embedded C, author James W. Grenning shows embedded software developers how to bring the benefits of TDD to embedded C. In the book, you'll see how to apply TDD to C and the world of embedded software development. Learn how to break key dependencies, allowing code to be tested thoroughly. Explore how to test-drive your product's core logic, exploiting the power of your development environment to deliver better software. In fact, as the book shows, you can test-drive a device driver before you even have the device soldered into a circuit board. Avoid the natural delays when testing on the target by using the tailored TDD Microcycle, employing off-target tests and dual-targeted code. Learn how to make code testable and more flexible, better able to handle the inevitable changes demanded by the market. The tests drive development and then serve as an executable specification, keeping track of the critical details and assumptions baked into the code. In Test Driven Development for Embedded C, you'll find that TDD is a different way to program-unit tests are written in a tight feedback loop with the production code, producing testable code and greatly reducing wasteful debugging. TDD also influences design. When tests are considered part of design, you create modular and loosely coupled code, the hallmarks of a good design. With Test Driven Development for Embedded C, C developers-even embedded C developers-can finally write cleaner, testable code with TDD.

A firsthand account of how public officials and other well-connected individuals have been compromised or blackmailed by their sexual improprieties, Confessions of a D.C. Madame relates the author’s time running the largest gay escort service in Washington, DC, and his interactions with VIPs from government, business, and the media who solicited the escorts he employed. The book details the federal government’s pernicious campaign waged against the author to ensure his silence and how he withstood relentless, fabricated attacks by the government, which included incarceration rooted in trumped up charges and outright lies. This fascinating and shocking facet of government malfeasance reveals the integral role blackmail plays in American politics and the unbelievable lengths the government perpetrates to silence those in the know.
