Over 300 stories of children and critters here on Whitebriar Farms could not be contained in one book, but is a "book set". There is no rhyme or reason to the "numbering", so don't think I missed anything, but even with mismatched numbers on chapters, realize they are in chronical order, as the experience came along. God has blessed me many times with a wonderful family and the ability to show people thru words, the wonderful life that can be had on a farm with animals and children. - Carole Lokan Moore, aka, The Farmer's Daughter

Carol had never thought of life as particularly hard. She just did what she needed to survive. She and her sister, Persephone, were happy and healthy, if a bit poor. They had each other and that's all that mattered. Then her world threatened to fold in on itself.Logan had been watching Carol for the better part of a year. She treated Persephone like a daughter so he naturally thought the child was Carol's daughter even though Carol was only currently eighteen. Which meant she'd been impossibly young when Persephone was born. Which made the father of Carol's daughter a dead man if he'd left the pair alone. Imagine his surprise when he learns the truth.Wondrous things happen at Christmas time. Even a lord isn't immune to the magic. Persephone was quick and intelligent and Carol even more so. It was enough to melt even the Grinch's heart. This is one lord willing to leap in any direction it takes to keep his girls.

Nietzsche and Joyce Carol Oates explores the American novelist's The Wonderland Quartet through a reading of the German philosopher's seminal works. In the four books of The Wonderland Quartet – A Garden of Earthly Delights (1967), Expensive People (1968), the National Book Award-winning Them (1969), and Wonderland (1971) – Oates aestheticizes cultural experiments after the Nietzschean proclamation of "God is dead" permeated American culture from about 1950. What may be delineated as Oates's original literary scholarship is her ability to reflect on the cultural reception of Walter Kaufmann's work on Nietzsche in her fiction, while enabling her characters to find their purposes. Echoing Nietzsche, her characters are not limited by normative standards. The author's narrative techniques allow her characters' polyphonic voices to dominate the flow.

A Christmas Carol: Of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come removes the dust off Dickens's masterpiece and goes beyond post-modern literature. Old Robert Marley is facing his own Christmas demons, and is given no choice at all. It'll take the form of unwanted journeys through his past, present and future. A simple life, and a second chance. No matter what, things only crystallize if we let them. Through the wits and memories of Robert Marley, the journey revisits the classic novella in a new frame, modern and as down-to-earth as a ghost story allows it. Question is: do you believe in ghost stories? Bitter Robert Marley hates pretty much everything and everyone, and focuses all his attention on his assets and on making more, affectionate with every dime of his own. Yet, the journey into his Christmases past, present and yet to come will remind him that he wasn't always such a greedy and grumpy fellow. There was hope, and love, and beauty inside of him. As he travels through the landmarks of his existence and through the lives of his contemporaries, he will be forced to re-open his heart and let in the flow of emotions and expectations that go along with it. Plunge with Marley in a re-visitation of his early memories, a flutter of lively and magical milestones, from his childhood Christmas parties to the years spent alongside Lily, the love of his life. Conscience and consciousness intertwine as he sinks deeper in the swirl of un-Dickens-like phantoms. From initial terror to growing earnestness, Marley embraces this experience as his own chance to look upon things in a different way. Windows open on new perspectives and offer him a surge of human warmth to cradle his elderly years.
