TO BE MORE THAN September 28th, 2018, I discovered there was a blood clot in my internal jugular vein. Within that same week, I was suddenly unable to use my voice. To hear me, you had to lean in close. You still have too... During this time, I made the decision to start documenting this experience through my outlet of choice, writing, and specifically, but not without occasional straying, poetry. I wasn't sure that I would ever feel comfortable sharing this experience in full, but here I am. Here we are. Discovering the endless ways in which our voices can be heard. Ways in which we are more than. Though this book is a chronological documentation of the first six months of living with a whisper, the underlying tone is that of adaption, observation, dedication, and perhaps more than anything else, community.
