In the east Texas town of Cold Springs in 1944, the community waits for the war to end. In this place where certain boundaries are not crossed and in a time when people reveal little about themselves, their problems, and their passions, Jane Roberts Wood exposes the heart of each of four families during the last year of World War II. Bound together by neighborhood and Southern customs, yet separated by class, money, and family, they are an unforgettable lot, vibrantly brought to life in this 'delightfully perceptive and unabashedly romantic' novel ("Sanford Herald"). As the war grinds to an end, it becomes the catalyst that drives the inhabitants of Cold Springs across the boundaries that had once divided them, taking them to places both chaotic and astonishing.
The Adventures of Ibn Opcit is a two-volume work by John Barr, first president of The Poetry Foundation. Grace, the first volume of this mock epic, is the master song of Ibn Opcit, a Caribbean gardener/poet condemned to die by torture. In a series of jailhouse monologues we hear him descant on justice, on creation, on America, on death and on life after death. In book two, Opcit at Large, the poet pushes back on his oppressors in three adventures. Like Virgil in the Inferno he visits the afterworld of reincarnation in The Afterdammit he struggles to survive as poet laureate to Africa's newest President for Life in Opcit en Afrique he orbits earth as The Last Cosmonaut on the eve of the fall of the Soviet Union. He comes home with the dignity and strength of one who has survived and prevailed.
Grace is truly one of the most amazing and life-transforming topics in the Bible. Tony Cooke takes the reader on a journey of not only understanding but also experiencing the grace of God. The grace of God is multi-faceted, having application in every area of the believer's life.He explores: Saving grace Sanctifying grace Strengthening grace Sharing grace Serving grace Grace is never a cop-out; rather, it is a catalyst that powerfully enables us to be and to do all that God has called us to become and accomplish. Not only does this book explain what grace provides, but it also discusses what grace produces. As you learn to partake freely and fully of God's grace, you will be able to say with the Apostle Paul, "By the grace of God I am what I am."(1 Corinthians 15:10).
"Highly recommended . . . a deeply felt and compassionate novel. Wise and resonant, it will strike a chord with readers." --Library JournalJustin and Sally Peters, both passionate educators--Justin, a hardened, Harvard-educated professor of British and classic literature at a small public Brooklyn college, and Sally, a gentle and spirited elementary school teacher teaching her students that happiness and joy require strength and perseverance--have had a calm and loving marriage, graciously enlivened by their curious four-year-old daughter, Giselle.Suddenly Sally, coming from a wrought past punctured with loss, begins to pull away from the man in whom she originally found comfort and safety. When Giselle starts asking him if Mommy is okay, Justin worries that Sally is on the verge of leaving him. Is she harboring feelings for a lost lover or, Justin wonders, was she ever really meant to be his wife? As Sally retreats deeper and deeper into herself, Justin wonders if her past has really come to claim her once and for all. While Justin reads Hamlet to his students, he tries to find answers in the literature that became his profession. There is special providence in the fall of a sparrow, Hamlet concludes. Let be. Does Shakespeare know how to keep Sally from leaving? Should Justin do nothing and wait for Sally to right herself? How deep can he read before he knows how to keep his family together? As deep snow falls in Brooklyn, Justin and Sally's relationship is put to the test. What once was a warm and cozy marriage bed becomes as cold as the encroaching winter frost. Kept in orbit by their curious daughter, Giselle, the couple must decide if staying together is in everyone's best interest.Elizabeth Nunez's classic fifth novel follows Justin and Sally through the harrowing trials of love and family and offers a remarkably tender introspection into the aching and sometimes harsh downturns of a modern-age love story.

I have written the book with the sole aim to make an honest attempt to share my subjective experiences and objective observations that have transformed my life from the day my path crossed with that of Grace's. The presence of pure unconditional love and undeniably full proof loyalty changed the layers of my life's fabric.I wish the would-be pet-parents will take a clue from the content and avoid making any mistakes that I made knowingly and unknowingly. I am also rooting for the cause of strict ban/control over breeding, sale of pets. I want to promote adoption of the pets instead of purchase. I hope the readers identify with and enjoy our moments and also get the message while turning the pages. I have tried to be unflinchingly honest about my feelings for Grace. In doing so, I am sorry if some feathers are ruffled but the intention is not at all to do so. Without any doubt or hesitation, the worst part of the process of writing this journey is that it has made me feel emotionally exposed.I wish the would-be parents realize, absorb the fact that we are chosen and blessed and must be grateful to the Universe for having our life immersed in rainbow colors. There is undoubtedly always a purpose when a pet walks in your life. From being not a pet lover to helicopter pet mom has been nevertheless a revolutionary change in my life. This bond surpasses all the pleasures derived from all the materialistic things or relations. That is my personal ultimate realization. She has taken me on unchartered journey through the stratosphere. It is a walk into the unknown and I am hoping this walk will be a long one. After all it is the "journey", that is more important than the destination itself
Amanda and Matt were very much in love and could not have been happier, but then something happened. After the ultimate betrayal, Amanda relied on the love of family, friends, and most of all her faith to get through the heartache. She throws herself into her work not sure if she could ever let go of the past pain and disappointments and love again.A new career led her to meet David Springraves, who'd lost the love of his life. David never expected to love again. He too relied on his faith and the prayers of family to get through the agonizing pain that nearly destroyed him.Their chance encounter left an indelible impression. Can they leave the past behind and trust their hearts to embark on a new journey?
Benedictine monastic spirituality has emerged as an antidote to the spiritual and cultural challenges facing people of faith today. In this book, the author focuses specifically on GRACE, and the benevolence of God as it expresses itself in many different ways along our spiritual journey. What is a person likely to experience when beginning to give up him or herself conscientiously to the spiritual journey? In this beautiful guide, gradually, we come to realize that everything that happens in our lives is somehow the gift of our loving Father.Every journey is ultimately individual. As Casey explains, what you hear within your own spirit is more significant than what he can say. But his aim is to help you listen to the voice of God in your heart.
