Fatuzzo, mentre era in prima linea, venne gravemente ferito il 30 dicembre 1940, e fu evacuato, a fasi e con molto dolore, dal campo di battaglia fino in Italia. In tal modo sopravvisse, mentre molti che servirono con e intorno a lui rimasero in posizione e morirono, un fatto che egli non dimentic mai. Questo libro fu pubblicato originariamente in Italia nel 1970, ma stato fuori stampa da molti anni. Si pubblicata ora una nuova edizione come tributo agli alpini italiani e per ricordare a tutti l'orribile realt delle guerre.
