The Life and Times of Sydney Greenstreet (hardback)
At the age of 61, Sydney Greenstreet made one of the most memorable debuts in classic cinema as the mysterious Kaspar Gutman in The Maltese Falcon (1941). His performance earned him a Best Supporting Actor Nomination. Born in England, Greenstreet had enjoyed a forty-year stage career which encompassed everything from Shakespeare to musical comedy and some of the most acclaimed plays of the 1930s. His film career lasted a mere eight years but included the timeless Casablanca (1942) and saw him teamed to great effect with the inimitable Peter Lorre. This is the first book dedicated to Greenstreet and includes over a hundred photographs, many of which are previously unseen.

For fans of All-of-a-Kind Family, here is the true story of how Sarah Brenner, a poor girl from New York City's Lower East Side, became Sydney Taylor: dancer, actress, and successful children's book author. Sarah Brenner might have come from an all-of-a-kind family (five sisters who all dressed alike), but she was always one of a kind. Growing up in a Jewish immigrant family on New York's impoverished Lower East Side, Sarah loved visiting the library, celebrating holidays with her family, and taking free dance classes at the Henry Street Settlement. But she was always aware of things that weren't fair--whether it was that women couldn't vote, or how girls were treated in her school, or that her parents had had to leave Europe because they were Jewish. When she grew up, Sarah changed her name to Sydney and became an actress and a dancer, but she never forgot the importance of fighting unfairness, whether it was anti-Semitism at her job or the low wages of workers. And when her daughter complained that it wasn't fair that there were no books about Jewish children like her, Sydney put pen to paper and wrote a one-of-a-kind children's book. From well-known Jewish children's author Richard Michelson, this is the story of how Sarah became Sydney and how she showed children the joy of seeing their culture reflected on the page.
How Do Elderly Filipino-Australians Living in Sydney Understand and Communicate the Term Depression?
The literature review covers a number of fields of literature relevant to the cross-cultural study of depression, notably debates and research in the fields of cultural anthropology, including medical anthropology, cross-cultural psychology and transcultural psychiatry. The interdisciplinary approach that characterizes the treatment of the literature is impressive. The student demonstrates a good grasp of key concepts such as category fallacy, validity of survey instruments, somatisation, and the issues surrounding the so-called "culture-bound syndromes."

This book is based upon the memoirs of my dad, Harold Sydney Hayward, which tell of his exploits as a Lancaster Bomber Gunner in the Royal Air Force between 25 February 1939 and 31 July 1945. My dad had always been reluctant to talk about what happened during this period for reasons which will become evident as you read this book. It is thanks to my mum, Emily Hayward, who over the years, was able to prise out from my dad what happened to him during those years, and she kept notes of what he said. Mum's notes were kept among our family memorabilia which included, photos and papers, which I uncovered when mum died on 10 March 2003 which was almost three years later to the day when dad died, on 12 March 2000.Having read my mum's notes, I believe my dad's story is a story that must be told and preserved for posterity, not only for him but for the thousands of young men, aged between 19 and 25, who died taking the fight to the enemy until ground forces could be mobilized for D-Day, June 1944. My dad's story gives a first-hand account of what Bomber Command aircrews actually went through and although a memorial in Green Park in London was unveiled by Queen Elizabeth II on 28 June 2012 to highlight the heavy casualties suffered by the aircrews during the war, this is a poor substitute for the words of someone who was there in the thick of it and who lived to tell his story. This was my dad.
Mit 15 Knoten Um Die Welt: Von Sydney Bis Singapur Teil 2
Wir fahren um die Welt. Mit 15 Knoten. Einmal rum.

Ross O'Carroll-Kelly thought he knew all he needed to about women's bodies ... So there I was, roysh, in a state of basically very blissful ignorance, when suddenly Sorcha's up the Damien and I have to listen to, like, women's stuff. And now he's getting a biology lesson he could have SO lived without ... I am telling you, roysh, I never even knew nipples could crack and I was very happy not knowing it. I mean, all I knew about the whole scenario was six seconds of seriously good loving, and now I'm basically expected to be an expert on how to, like, breathe like Dorth Vader and deal with baby turds.Sometimes, life just isn't fair to the babe magnet supremo ... This is SO not good for my rep - but do you think Sorcha even, like, cares about that? Not focking likely!

Sydney has been under siege by giant carnivorous animals from the outback for thirty years. In a 1950s-era Australia, Bruce Buckley believes a stone his uncle had taken from Ayers Rock was responsible for unleashing vast magical changes in the wildlife causing most of the country to be overrun. Sydney was only saved due to its new animal allies: boxing kangaroos, diprotodon-sized wombats, friendly koalas, secretive platypuses and laughing kookaburras. Bruce journeys between the various animal groups as they try to work out the cause for the current crisis. Travelling around Sydney, he explores this city which has undergone many changes since the old days: kangaroos hop along the streets, where they are ridden by humans-the main method of transportation now. These kangaroos hold crowded boxing matches at the SCG, the brutality of which Bruce witnesses personally. Many humans head out on expeditions into the dangerous lands outside the city, and Bruce crosses paths with one of the worst of these rough characters: Outback Jack, organising his own quest to find some lost opals. While doing so, Jack has his own problems with an atrociously biased kangaroo court and other leaders. Koalas are now a part of human society, holding important positions, and living throughout the city as the two species work together to try and stay safe from outback foes. Meanwhile wombats have taken over Sydney's underground stations and constructed many other burrows, holding duels to settle disputes, and struggling to fight off underground enemies. Kookaburras nest along the Harbour Bridge, busy conducting aerial patrols against enemy snakes and birds of prey. Platypus live secretly underwater, and are difficult to contact. Sydney's beaches are now heavily guarded against attacks from giant creatures of the ocean. With some distrust and different motivations, Bruce and Jack join forces, visiting the different animal groups, while trying to find out more about the magic surrounding the stone from Ayers Rock.

Judy and Me: Growing up in North Sydney, Cape Breton Island, God's Country, Nova Scotia in the 1950s. What a Memory!!
Judy and Me is the posthumous publication of Alice Jean (Hodder Hoyt) Garland's memoir printed in 2004 and reprinted in 2007. Alice, known as Allie Jean and the Anglican Minister's daughter, recounts the adventures she enjoyed with her best friend, Judy, during the fabulous 50's in North Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The author's vignettes transport the reader to a simpler time when teens listened in on party lines, jived to the jukebox at the soda shop, watched Elvis movies at the drive-in theatre, and when the church was the hub of the community. This first published edition includes photographs and other mementos of Alice's life. The foreword is written by her eldest daughter, Allison Hoyt Hannah. It was published as an elegy to Alice on the 10th anniversary of her passing. Judy and Me is a gift to anyone who reads it. Alice was a gift to everyone who knew her.
