Diary, memoir, poem, fiction? Autopsy, crime scene, hagiography, hymn? The chronicle of an obsessive love.In the middle of the night between the 25th and 26th of November, Vincent fell from the third floor playing parachute with a bathrobe. He drank a liter of tequila, smoked Congolese grass, snorted cocaine...-from Crazy for VincentCrazy for Vincent begins with the death of the figure it fixates upon: Vincent, a skateboarding, drug-addled, delicate "monster" of a boy in whom the narrator finds a most sublime beauty. By turns tender and violent, Vincent drops in and out of French writer and photographer Herve Guibert's life over the span of six years (from 1982, when he first met Vincent as a fifteen-year-old teenager, to 1988). After Vincent's senseless death, the narrator embarks on a reconnaissance writing mission to retrieve the Vincent that had entered, elevated, and emotionally eviscerated his life, working chronologically backward from the death that opens the text. Assembling Vincent's fragmentary appearances in his journal, the author seeks to understand what Vincent's presence in his life had been: a passion? a love? an erotic obsession? or an authorial invention? A parallel inquiry could be made into the book that results: Is it diary, memoir, poem, fiction? Autopsy, crime scene, hagiography, hymn? Crazy for Vincent is a text the very nature of which is as untethered as desire itself.

Van Gogh’s famous painting was created from memory during his extended term at the Asylum in Saint-Rémy, towards the end of his life, in 1889. Unlike many of his masterpieces, very little is known about the motivations for this piece because it is barely mentioned in the correspondence with his brother Theo. The surviving letters from this period discuss, and include preliminary sketches of, so many of his other works, but there remains an air of mystery about its absence, perhaps contributing to the success of the work in more recent times. The Starry Night does capture the essence of Van Gogh’s style, with its strong, textured strokes, sweeping lines of movement, and the exaggerated detail, all of which point to the anxious turmoil of the artist’s incarceration. The dark towering cypress tree to the left of the painting overpowers the quiet settlement below, but is itself dominated by the glowing orbs in the sky. The Starry Night retains the impression of the world around us, but hints at the emotions beyond and behind. SUSTAINABLY SOURCED. This puzzle is free of plastic packaging and created using FSC-certified paper and board. Flame Tree actively strives to promote ethical development and environmental conservation.
Adult Jigsaw Puzzle Vincent Van Gogh: Wheat Field with a Lark

Now includes an A4 poster for reference. In Wheat Field With a Lark Vincent Van Gogh abandoned his earlier darker palette, replacing it with light colours and directional brushstrokes to depict the airiness of a wheat field swaying in a summer’s breeze. In the last years of his life, he painted several landscapes featuring wheat fields, all of which evoke a range of emotions. In a letter to his brother he explained his inspiration: ‘I am almost certain that these canvases illustrate what I cannot express in words, that is, how healthy and reassuring I find the countryside.’ His love for the countryside can be seen in the quick and lyrical execution of each stroke that makes every flower and wheat sheaf come alive. While he was not widely accepted in his lifetime, Van Gogh is now one of the most renowned artists in the world and his incredible paintings will be for ever admired.

Motivated by the occasion and moved by his brother Theo naming the child after him, Van Gogh painted Almond Blossom as a gift in celebration of the event. He had previously been greatly inspired by flowering trees, and appreciated their power as symbols of rebirth. Van Gogh shared a close relationship with his brother Theo, writing letters to him throughout his life, with more than 600 letters still surviving. Today, Van Gogh is one of the most loved and respected artists all over the world.
