My father's work has always been admired by his family. As well as the charming forms and shapes the textures and surface finishes are always varied and always offer delight. Whilst shining a creative flame that displays a joyful naivety, un-doused by the waters of the art colleges, my father's work is too sophisticated and influenced by historical and contemporary cultures to be considered Outsider Art. His work has been exhibited with the Cumbria Sculptors and was amongst the only works sold. The work has un-tempered energy, beauty, warmth of spirit, creativity and wit. In my studies of the ceramic art of Pablo Picasso it was easy to see similarities in the equally prolific ceramic works of my father Donald Padgett. So, it is my pleasure to photograph and present for you a selection of his original works. These show his talent and vision as a ceramicist. And this book is a visual record of some of those finest pieces of his art.Anthony David Padgett MA (Theory of Contemporary Art) - January 2020

INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER. Why impeachment is the only remedy for the dangers posed by President Trump, as explained by celebrated Supreme Court lawyer and former Acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal. No one is above the law. This belief is as American as freedom of speech and turkey on Thanksgiving--held sacred by Democrats and Republicans alike. But as celebrated Supreme Court lawyer and former Acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal argues in Impeach, if President Trump is not held accountable for his gross abuses of power, it could very well mark the end of our democracy. A primer on the history and process of impeachment and an explanation of the extraordinary circumstances for which it must be reserved, Impeach explains why it is the only solution for a bad actor like President Trump, and argues that we must use it to bar him from office--before it's too late.

Play and Reflection in Donald Winnicott's Writings
The third book in the Winnicott Clinic Lecture Series contains a lecture from the author on Winnicott's theory on play. He discusses Winnicott's view on the importance of play and then moves on to presenting his own, somewhat contradictory, view on it. The author provides an innovative and provocative perspective on the subject, inviting people to think independently rather than accepting theories already laid out for them.
Political Landscapes of Donald Trump
This book delves into the life and work of President Donald Trump, who is arguably the most famous and controversial person in the world today. While his administration has received enormous attention, few have studied the spatial dimensions of his policies. Political Landscapes of Donald Trump explores the geographies of Trump from multiple conceptual standpoints. It contextualizes Donald and his rise to power within the geography of his victory in 2016. Several essays in the book are concerned with his white ethno-nationalist political platform and social bases of support. Others focus on Trump’s use of Twitter, his ties to professional wrestling, and his innumerable lies and deceits. Yet another set delves into the geopolitics of his foreign policies, notably in Cuba, Korea, the Middle East, and China. Finally, it covers how his administration has addressed – or failed to address – climate change and its treatment of undocumented immigrants. This book will be of interest to anyone interested in the Trump administration, as well as social scientists and the informed lay public.

Assholes: A Theory of Donald Trump

Assholes: A Theory of Donald Trump

Aaron James

Bantam Doubleday Dell
2016
sidottu
That Donald Trump is an asshole is a fact widely agreed upon even by his supporters, who actually like that about him. But his startling political rise makes the question of just what sort of asshole he is, and how his assholedom may help to explain his success, one not just of philosophical interest but of almost existential urgency. Enter the philosopher Aaron James, author of the foundational text in the burgeoning field of Asshole Studies: the bestselling Assholes: A Theory. In this brisk and trenchant inquiry into the phenomenon that is Donald Trump, James places the man firmly in the typology of the asshole (takes every advantage, entrenched sense of entitlement, immune to criticism); considers whether, in the Hobbesian world we seem to inhabit, he might not somehow be a force for good i.e., the Stronger Asshole; and offers a suggestion for how the bonds of our social contract, spectacularly broken by Trump s (and Ted Cruz s) disdain for democratic civility, might in time be repaired. You will never think about Donald Trump the same way after reading this book. And, like it or not, think about him we must.

Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump Squandered His Father's Fortune and Created the Illusion of Success
An Instant New York Times Bestseller - A Washington Post Notable Book - A Financial Times Best Business Book of the Year "A first-rate financial thriller . . . Lucky Loser is one of those rare Trump books that deserve, even demand, to be read." -Alexander Nazaryan, The New York Times From the Pulitzer Prize-winning reporters behind the 2018 bombshell New York Times expos of then-President Trump's finances, an explosive investigation into the history of Donald Trump's wealth, revealing how one of the country's biggest business failures lied his way into the White House Soon after announcing his first campaign for the US presidency, Donald J. Trump told a national television audience that life "has not been easy for me. It has not been easy for me." Building on a narrative he had been telling for decades, he spun a hardscrabble fable of how he parlayed a small loan from his father into a multi-billion-dollar business and real estate empire. This feat, he argued, made him singularly qualified to lead the country. Except: None of it was true. Born to a rich father who made him the beneficiary of his own highly lucrative investments, Trump received the equivalent of more than $500 million today via means that required no business expertise whatsoever. Drawing on over twenty years' worth of Trump's confidential tax information, including the tax returns he tried to conceal, alongside business records and interviews with Trump insiders, New York Times investigative reporters Russ Buettner and Susanne Craig track Trump's financial rise and fall, and rise and fall again. For decades, he squanders his fortunes on money losing businesses, only to be saved yet again by financial serendipity. He tacks his name above the door of every building, while taking out huge loans he'll never repay. He obsesses over appearances, while ignoring threats to the bottom line and mounting costly lawsuits against city officials. He tarnishes the value of his name by allowing anyone with a big enough check to use it, and cheats the television producer who not only rescues him from bankruptcy but casts him as a business savant - the public image that will carry him to the White House. A masterpiece of narrative reporting, Lucky Loser is a meticulous examination spanning nearly a century, filled with scoops from Trump Tower, Mar-a-Lago, Atlantic City, and the set of The Apprentice. At a moment when Trump's tether to success and power is more precarious than ever, here for the first time is the definitive true accounting of Trump and his money - what he had, what he lost, and what he has left - and the final word on the myth of Trump, the self-made billionaire.
