Ionesco beschreibt das Absurde als etwas "which is devoid of purpose ... cut off from its religious, metaphysical and transcendental roots; man is lost, his actions become senseless, absurd, useless."

L nder - Mittelalter, Fr he Neuzeit, Note: 2,3, Humboldt-Universit t zu Berlin (Geschichtswissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Die Eroberung Englands 1066, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Harold II. The Last Anglo-Saxon King" von Ian W. Walker. Letztgenanntes Werk stellt neben den Standar

Edgerton invented the electronic flash, capturing what the human eye cannot seeHarold Edgerton was an engineer, educator, explorer and entrepreneur, as well as a revolutionary photographer--in the words of his former student and Life photographer Gjon Mili, "an American original." Edgerton's photos combine exceptional engineering talent with aesthetic sensibility, and this book presents more than 100 of his most exemplary works.Seeing the Unseen contains iconic photos from the beloved milk drops and bullets slicing through fruit and cards, to less well known but equally compelling images of sea creatures and sports figures in action. Paired with excerpts from Edgerton's laboratory notebooks, the book reveals the full range of his technical virtuosity and his enthusiasm for the natural and human-built worlds. Essays by Edgerton students and collaborators J. Kim Vandiver and Gus Kayafas explore his approach to photography, engineering and education, while MIT Museum curators Gary Van Zante and Deborah Douglas examine his significance to the history of photography, technology and modern culture. As Harold Eugene Edgerton (1903-90) once modestly described himself: "I am an electrical engineer and I work with strobe lights and circuits and make useful things." Born and raised in Nebraska, the longtime MIT electrical engineering professor pioneered the transformation of the strobe from an obscure 19th-century invention into a key technology of the 20th century. In 1962, Edgerton appeared on I've Got a Secret, where he demonstrated strobe flash photography by shooting a bullet into a playing card and photographing the result.

Harold Frys utrolige pilegrimsreise
Anne B. Harold Pinter’s The Dumb Waiter
This collection of essays focuses on one of Harold Pinter’s most popular and challenging plays, The Dumb Waiter, while addressing also a range of significant issues current in Pinter studies and which are applicable beyond this play. The interesting and provocative dialogues between established and emerging scholars featured here provide close readings of The Dumb Waiter, within relevant cultural and historical contexts and from a range of theoretical perspectives. The essays range over issues of autobiography and theater, genre studies, and the impact of Pinter’s political activism on his dramatic production, among others. The collection is also concerned with the meaning of the play when assessed against other example’s of Pinter’s work, both dramatic and non-dramatic writing. Each contributor shows a gift for presenting a complex argument in an accessible style, making this book an important resource for a wide range of readers, from undergraduates to postgraduates and specialist researchers. The collection offers essays that approach The Dumb Waiter, from an interdisciplinary perspective and as both a literary and dramatic text. Thus, the book should be of equal significance to those encountering Pinter within the context of English Studies, drama, and performance.
