This book contains the papers delivered at the 1996 Copper Scroll Symposium which was organized by the Manchester-Sheffield Centre for Dead Sea Scrolls Research to mark the 40th Anniversary of the opening of this enigmatic scroll in Manchester. The papers cover the history of the Scroll's interpretation (P. Muchowski, P. Davies, B. Segal, M. Wise); how it should be conserved, restored and read (N. Cacoudre, M. Lundberg, E. Puech); how it was produced (P. Kyle McCarter); the meaning of its technical terms (J.F. Elwolde, A. Lange, J. Lefkovits, J. Lubbe, L. Schiffman); its genre (M. Bar-Ilan, R. Fidler, T. Lim); its geography (P.S. Alexander); its correlation with archaeological remains (H. Eshel); and not least who wrote it, when and why (S. Goranson, I Knohl, H. Stegemann, B. Thierine, A. Wolters) with an Introduction by G. Brooke. This is volume 40 in the Journal for the Study of Pseudepigrapha Supplement series.

Copper is increasingly recognized for its possible role in the prevention and moderation of disease, as well as the treatment of a number of conditions including skin irritation, sensitization, rheumatoid arthritis, and other inflammatory conditions. This source reviews general principles of percutaneous penetration to clarify the mechanisms controlling anti-inflammatory activity, dermal sensitivity, and the absorption of copper compounds in the human body and the effects of these functions on healthy skin and human health.

If you love mysteries and family history in the style of Maeve Binchy, don't miss this final book in the Windows trilogy. The Smith family learns in 2011 they likely will lose Highbridge, their ancestral estate in North Yorkshire unless they find a way to generate income. They plan to build a water-wheel mill for craft flours on the Copper Swift River and a small cafe inside with their remaining funds; the Estate's fate rests on their success. Two generations face life-style change including Stephen Smith's only son, Thomas and his fiancee Sarah, an American hired to research the family's genealogy. A mysterious prowler turns up at the oddest times in the old manor house looking for treasure and an unexpected helper begins to assist. "Family values, faith, the will to succeed and a surprising discovery make this final look at the Smith family a poignant, but optimistic experience." Linda J Pifer

Copper Zinc Tin Sulfide Thin Films for Photovoltaics

Copper Zinc Tin Sulfide Thin Films for Photovoltaics

Jonathan Scragg documents his work on a very promising material suitable for use in solar cells. Copper Zinc Tin Sulfide (CZTS) is a low cost, earth-abundant material suitable for large scale deployment in photovoltaics. Jonathan pioneered and optimized a low cost route to this material involving electroplating of the three metals concerned, followed by rapid thermal processing (RTP) in sulfur vapour. His beautifully detailed RTP studies – combined with techniques such as XRD, EDX and Raman – reveal the complex relationships between composition, processing and photovoltaic performance. This exceptional thesis contributes to the development of clean, sustainable and alternative sources of energy
