This publication is the first survey of Jonathan Edwards's harmonic interpretation of Epistle to the Hebrews. This methodology emphasized harmony between the history of the world and its account in the Word. Drawn from a planned publication on The Harmony of the Old and New Testament, the harmonic interpretation of Jonathan Edwards sought to harmonize the Old and New Testament by employing three habits: (1) the habit of observing Old Testament prophetic fulfillment in the person and work of Christ in the New Testament; (2) the habit of perceiving typology in the natural world and Scripture that typified the Messiah, Jesus Christ; (3) the habit of harmonizing the Old and New Testament according to its doctrines and precepts. After introducing this methodology to readers, this study provides eight thematic case studies on how Edwards demonstrated this methodology in his interpretation of the Epistle to the Hebrews.

n her Epilogue entitled What Is His Greatness?, Ola Elizabeth Winslow stated in the first serious modern biography of Jonathan Edwards: In a word, it is the greatness of one who had a determining art of initiating and directing a popular movement of far-reaching consequence, and who in addition, laid the foundations for a new system of religious thought, also of far-reaching consequence. Since the free online access of The Works of Jonathan Edwards by Yale University, dozens of books, and articles, as well as numerous dissertations, each year are written to seek a facet of Edwardss greatness, and thus as an exemplar of his continued far-reaching consequence. Jonathan Edwards, more than any other pre-revolutionary colonial thinker, grappled with the promises and perils of the Enlightenment. Organized by John T. Lowe and Daniel N. Gullotta, Jonathan Edwards within the Enlightenment brings together a group of young and early career scholars to present their propping the life, times, and theology of one of Americas greatest minds. Many of these subjects have been seldom explored by scholars while others offer new and exciting avenues into well covered territory. Some of these topics include Edwards interaction with and involvement in slavery, colonialism, racism, as well as musings on gender, populism, violence, pain, and witchcraft.
"On Poetry: A Rapsody" is one of Jonathan Swift's most complex and controversial poems. This study presents, for the first time, a detailed analysis and interpretation of what, on a surface level, has to be called a mock "ars poetica," but which, on a deeper level, is a highly allusive political satire. The main emphasis has been placed on providing a commentary which seeks to make this 18th-century text within its historical, political, and religious context comprehensible to present-day readers.

The patent for coining copper money granted by King George I to the English manufacturer William Wood aroused nationwide protest in Ireland. It led to the publication of Jonathan Swift’s «Drapier’s Letters», in which the Dean of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, attacked both the patent and England’s Irish policy. But this is not the whole story. This annotated edition contains more than 100 pamphlets, declarations, poems, and songs that were published during the dispute. Most of the reproduced texts are extremely rare and have hitherto lain dormant in various libraries. They illustrate that the protest was in fact carried on by the Irish population at large, who regarded the coinage scheme as a severe intrusion into the nation’s circulating cash which threatened to ruin the country’s economy.

Jonathan Monk (*1969) is known for his witty appropriation of art history, his re-staging of conceptual and minimalist art works, his critique of both the exhibition circus and the aesthetic category of originality. Exhibit Model is an installation of photo-papers, depicting his works in different exhibition contexts. Site-specifically modified, it has been shown before in Muttenz, Copenhagen, and Montreal. For its fourth iteration, at KINDL Zentrum für zeitgenössische Kunst in Berlin, he combined it with works by fellow artists, the 'invited guests'. Text in English and German.
