Lucy of the Broken States takes place 80 years after an apocalyptical event that nearly destroyed Earth. Lucy is on a quest to find the man that impregnated and infected a friend of hers, an Escort. This book is sex worker positive and LQBTQIA+ positive. It explores themes of friendships, open relationships, is transgender positive. The book takes place in the southern United States and California. Lucy is a Hired Hand, a person who will take almost any job - for the right price. Need a kitten saved? Hire Lucy. Need someone killed? Hire Lucy. Her latest client is pregnant and dying. The Red Death will kill her in less than a year. If the baby is born disease free, they'll need a parent. Lucy's task? Find the father, who is headed to the mines on the West Coast. It's eighty years since the first Bombardment. Humanity has survived, but barely. High heat signatures, from large cities or industry, bring more Bombardments. Hence, technology has been taken back to the Old West, and in some cases further back. The Rail is the most reliable way to get across the country, but Lucy hates traveling in the Under. She'll bite the bullet, though, even for a journey she feels has little chance of success. She'll get paid either way.

Join Lucy and her bird friend Yiggy on their quest for elusive birds in the Costa Rican rainforest. Lucy is on the lookout for an elusive bird in the Costa Rican rainforest, where she lives with her family. In particular, she's looking for a potoo, a stick bird that's known for its camouflaging skills, which would be a new addition to Lucy's life list of bird species. With her bird friend Yiggy by her side, Lucy uses her trusty binoculars and her field guide to identify birds she has seen before, like Rufous-tailed Hummingbirds and Scarlet-rumped Tanagers, and some she hasn't, such as the Snowy-bellied Hummingbird and the Speckled Tanager. Join Lucy and Yiggy on their quest through the jungle as they share information about each bird species they encounter, including how these birds-and Lucy-can help the local ecosystem. Lucy loves the challenge and decides she wants to be an ornithologist, or bird scientist, when she grows up. She also learns that simply by showing up and never giving up, she will always find something wonderful... or wacky... or unexpected... out in nature.

The true story of one little dog who helped bring an end to puppy farming in the UK. Lucy, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, was born into a Welsh puppy farm in 2008. She was repeatedly bred to produce litters of cute puppies, who were taken from her shortly after birth to be sold online and transported many miles across the UK. Life on a puppy farm is grim, and the dogs aren't vaccinated, loved or looked after. Lucy was rescued in 2013 and was in a terrible way - her spine was fused, she was covered in scalds and burns, blind in one eye, had crippling arthritis, separation anxiety, and was badly underweight. Her life turned around when she was chosen for adoption and rehabilitated by Lisa Garner, dog-lover extraordinaire. Lisa had shared her life with many dogs beforehand, but she recognised something extra special about little Lucy, and so their unique journey together began which would eventually change the world...

Lucy's Nose is a richly layered narrative that blends historical fiction, life writing, psychoanalysis and socio-political history to explore the intersections of memory, the imagination, and identity. At its heart is a detective-like quest to uncover the story of Freud's elusive patient 'Lucy R.', a 30-year-old Scottish governess in Vienna who sought Freud's help in the early 1890s for olfactory hallucinations. As the contemporary author-narrator visits Vienna in the 1980s to search for traces of the woman who inspired Freud's case study, she reflects on Lucy's resistance to Freud's sexual theories and begins imaginatively to reconstruct her voice and life. Set against the symbolic backdrop of a historic Viennese train station, the text becomes both a meditation on time and a neo-Victorian experiment in autofiction, merging personal memory with cultural history and blurring the lines between fact, fiction, and self-creation.
