"The 25 Most Influential Books in the Post-Apostolic Christian Church" is the third and final part of a trilogy that includes "The 25 Most Influential People in the Post-Apostolic Christian Church" and "The Top 25 Events in the History of the Christian Church". It will focus on books written (or translated) after the death of the last apostle. To be included in the top 25 list, the work needs to have been an actual book, not a sermon, decree, letter, bull or blog. The book needs to have had a significant impact at least in its own time. Books in the Top 10 have had an impact from the time they were published until today. Both popular books ("Left Behind") and deep theological tomes ("Summa Theologica") are included on the list. This book contains 18 illustrations, 7 of which are in color.

Time to Change Corporations: Closing the Citizenship GapBy Robert C. Hinkley When good citizens realize they are harming the public interest, they stop. They don't wait for a new law to make them stop. They don't lobby to keep the law from making them stop. They simply stop. When citizenship is lacking, the behavior causing the harm continues until a law can be passed to make it stop. Sometimes this can take a very long time. Modern corporations tend not to be very good citizens. Rather than stop, they continue operating in the Citizenship Gap, harming the environment and other elements of the public interest. Time to Change Corporations reveals how existing law encourages companies to continue. The author, a corporate lawyer for more than 30 years, describes how this problem arose and suggests the solution lies in reversing a change to the corporate law made more than 100 years ago. This reversal will require directors to once again ensure their company's pursuit of self-interest no longer comes at the expense of the environment, human rights, the public health and safety, the dignity of employees and the welfare of the communities in which the corporation operates.

The Civil War, more than any other war in the 19th century, directly impacted modern warfare in the 20th century and beyond. Sometimes the impact was from technological innovations - submarines, repeating rifles, rifled artillery and armored ships were all used either for the first time in the Civil War, or used first on a wide-scale in the Civil War. Sometimes, the impacts were from strategic innovations - "total war", "mobile war", "trench warfare" and "irregular warfare" all either debuted in the Civil War, or were used on a wide-scale for the first time. This book will look at the top ten (11 actually - #10 is a tie) innovations of the Civil War, especially in regard to their impact on 20th and 21st century warfare. The book includes 23 black and white illustrations and 12 color illustrations.

An Introduction to Crime and Crime Causation is a student-friendly textbook that defines and explains the concepts of crime, criminal law, and criminology. Ideal for a one-semester course, the book compares and contrasts early criminal behavior and today’s modern forms of crime. It also explores society’s responses to criminal behavior in the past and in the present day. It covers both major and lesser-known crime causation theories and their impact on society. Topics covered include: The importance of understanding crime data The goals of punishment The history of criminology, including the influence of social Darwinism on early trait theorists Crime causation theories, including a comparison of mainstream and critical theories The relationship between crime and biology, including the influence of genetics, substance use, and mental illness The social structural approach to crime, including a consideration of the changing contexts of urban criminality The nature and function of the justice system at the local, state, and federal levels, and basic categories of crimes Drug trafficking crimes, drug court efforts, and perceived weaknesses in current antidrug effortsEach chapter begins with a set of objectives and concludes with a summary. Interactive questions promote classroom discussion and practicum sections facilitate contextual learning. Drawn from different and distinct backgrounds, the authors each have unique perspectives on crime, making for a particularly well-rounded text that explores crime from several angles. The book attempts to educate readers in the development of new insights on crime and crime causation and provides a greater understanding of the steps that need to be taken before a significant reduction in crime can occur.
