Greek Epigraphy and Religion: Papers in Memory of Sara B. Aleshire from the Second North American Congress of Greek and Latin Epigraphy
In Greek Epigraphy and Religion Emily Mackil and Nikolaos Papazarkadas bring together a series of papers first presented at a special session of the Second North American Congress of Greek and Latin Epigraphy (Berkeley 2016). That session was dedicated to the memory of Sara B. Aleshire, one of the leading Greek epigraphists of the twentieth century. The volume at hand includes a combination of previously unpublished inscriptions, overlooked epigraphical documents, and well known inscribed texts that are reexamined with fresh eyes and approaches. The relevant documents cover a wide geographical range, including Athens and Attica, the Peloponnese, Epirus, Thessaly, the Aegean islands, and Egypt. This collection ultimately explores the insights provided by epigraphical texts into the religious beliefs and practices of the ancient Greeks, but also revisits critically some entrenched doctrines in the field of Greek religion.

Marriage at any age presents challenges, generates disagreements, and requires compromise. Marriage at an advanced age increases these challenges. Sometimes it's easier to keep the peace when the hearing-aid batteries run out, and compromise is often easier to attain with the understanding that, late in life, nothing is long term. Life at Parliament Square continues in the second book of the Parliament Square series, For Better . . . For Worse. The first book, You Can't Get There From Here, introduced Sara Jennings, following her transition from independent living to life in a senior retirement community. In the last chapter of that book, Sara and Joseph became engaged to be married. Now Sara's story continues as she enjoys new experiences while savoring memories of days gone by. She opens a new chapter in her book of life with all the confidence of a four-year-old in a Superman cape. She refuses to allow her chronological age to define her, seizing life with the geriatric version of reckless abandon. Life is once again an adventure instead of a meaningless progression of hours to be endured until tomorrow arrives. The memories of life's moments massage our hearts with gentle fingers of love. Sometimes they remind us of days gone by, days that are missed but will never be forgotten. Our hearts often ache for those times. Memories make us smile. Memories make us cry. Sometimes they make us laugh and cry at the same time. They make us realize life is too precious to waste a single day. Rejoin Sara Jennings and her friends at Parliament Square as they have new adventures and make new memories in For Better . . . For Worse.

Civil War Baton Rouge, Port Hudson and Bayou Sara: Capturing the Mississippi
When Louisiana seceded from the Union on January 26, 1861, no one doubted that a battle to control the Mississippi River was imminent. Throughout the war, the Federals pushed their way up the river. Every port and city seemed to fall against the force of the Union navy. -The capital was forced to retreat from Baton Rouge to Shreveport. Many of the smaller towns, like Bayou Sara and Donaldsonville, were nearly shelled completely off the map. It was not until the Union reached Port Hudson that the Confederates had a fighting chance to keep control of the mighty Mississippi. -They fought long and hard, undersupplied and undermanned, but ultimately the Union prevailed. With interest in the Civil War at an all-time high, please consider a review or a feature story with Dennis J. Dufrene."
A Curious Mind and a Very Big Heart: The Story of Designer and Innovator Sara Little Turnbull
Meet the girl with a big heart and a bigger imagination who grew up to be an innovative international designer in this illuminating nonfiction picture book biography. Sara Little Turnbull was a curious child. Her creativity and curiosity led her to the world of design, a world of imagining, planning, and making useful--and beautiful--things. She grew up to become an acclaimed innovator whose creative and celebrated design solutions spanned the gamut from housewares and furniture to toys, finger foods, cake mixes, textiles, spacesuits--and to a new medical mask, which inspired the design for the N-95 mask we know today. Sometimes Sara's work was a tricky puzzle, and sometimes her ideas did not pan out like she'd planned, but she stuck with it, always hoping her designs would make the world a little bit better. And...they did
