The Peace of the Solomon Valley is a novel by Margaret Hill McCarter. The story takes place in the late 1800s in the Solomon Valley of Kansas, where a group of settlers are struggling to make a life in the harsh and unforgiving frontier. The main character, Mary Barclay, is a young woman who has been raised in the East and is sent to live with her aunt and uncle in the valley after the death of her parents. Mary is initially resistant to the idea of living in such a harsh and primitive environment, but she soon grows to love the land and the people who live there. As Mary settles into her new life, she becomes involved in the struggles of the settlers, who are being threatened by a group of cattle rustlers who are determined to drive them off their land. Mary joins forces with a group of settlers who are determined to stand up to the rustlers and protect their homes and families. Along the way, she falls in love with a young rancher named Jack Randall, who is also fighting against the rustlers. The Peace of the Solomon Valley is a stirring tale of love, courage, and determination in the face of adversity. McCarter's vivid descriptions of the landscape and the people who inhabit it bring the story to life, and her characters are richly drawn and full of depth. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of the American West, and for anyone who loves a good adventure story. This Is A New Release Of The Original 1913 Edition. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
