Every Organization exists to achieve certain objectives. It as limited sources at its command and operates quite often in a dynamic environment. In order to achieve its objectives; the managers administrators of the organization prepare and execute plans. After the plans are put into action there can be several hurdles in the achievement of objectives. Plans are themselves may not be effective, Organization structure may be defective, staff may be incompetent, motivated, direction may be faulty or the changes in the environment may disturb the operations. As a result performance may fail short of targets or expectations. Managers, therefore, require a system by which they can regularly monitor progress, identify the bottlenecks and take timely actions to set right. This is the function of control.

In a relatively short span of time, computers have evolved from huge mainframes to small and elegant desktop computers, and now to low-power, ultra-portable handheld devices. Witheachpassinggeneration, computersconsistingofprocessors, memoriesandperipherals becamesmallerandfaster.Forexample, the?rstcommercialcomputerUNIVACIcosted $1 million dollars, occupied 943 cubic feet space and could perform 1,905 operations per second [94]. Now, a processor present in an electric shaver easily outperforms the early mainframe computers. The miniaturization is largely due to the efforts of engineers and scientists that made the expeditious progress in the microelectronic technologies possible. According to Moore’s Law [90], the advances in technology allow us to double the number of transistors on a single silicon chip every 18 months. This has lead to an exponential increase in the number of transistors on a chip, from 2,300 in an Intel 4004 to 42 millions in Intel Itanium processor [55]. Moore’s Law has withstood for 40 years and is predicted to remain valid for at least another decade [91]. Notonlytheminiaturizationanddramaticperformanceimprovementbutalsothesign- icantdropinthepriceofprocessors, hasleadtosituationwheretheyarebeingintegratedinto products, such as cars, televisions and phones which are not usually associated with c- puters. This new trend has also been called the disappearing computer, where the computer does not actually disappear but it is everywhere [85]. Cultural and Visual Flux at Early Historical Bagh in Central India
A study of the region around the early historical Buddhist monastery in Bagh, in the state of Madhya Pradesh in central India; a special focus is given to the local cave art. The author argues that the visual art represents the religious assimilation by Buddhism, an approach caused by the process of transformation through three successive phases. The evolution of a Brahmanic class is also traced, together with the impact of Brahmanic ritual and class structures on the artwork of the monastery.

Illegitimacy and the National Family in Early Modern England

Illegitimacy and the National Family in Early Modern England

This study considers the figure of the bastard in the context of analogies of the family and the state in early modern England. The trope of illegitimacy, more than being simply a narrative or character-driven issue, is a vital component in the evolving construction and representation of British national identity in prose and drama of the sixteenth and early seventeenth century. Through close reading of a range of plays and prose texts, the book offers readers new insight into the semiotics of bastardy and concepts of national identity in early modern England, and reflects on contemporary issues of citizenship and identity. The author examines play texts of the period including Bale's King Johan, Peele's The Troublesome Reign of John, and Shakespeare's King John, Richard II, and King Lear in the context of a selection of legal, religious, and polemical texts. In so doing, she illuminates the extent to which the figure of the bastard and, more generally the trope of illegitimacy, existed as a distinct discourse within the wider discursive framework of family and nation.

Analyzing the ways in which ideas of heroic discourse and the socio-religious and political needs of the period moulded iconography, this book explores the evolution of the iconography of the early mediaeval Hindu temples of the Indian peninsula, over the course of the sixth-twelfth centuries C.E. In order to study the socio-religious and political atmosphere in which the early mediaeval temple iconography grew and developed its specific forms, the author makes use of the inscriptions, archaeological and the literary materials ranging from the fourth centuries B.C.E. to the thirteenth century C.E., as these give an idea of the continuities and discontinuities in the ideas of heroic and political discourses which lie at the back of the visual art forms that they created. Of particular interest are the royal charters, issued in Sanskrit and Tamil, the religious narratives from the Sanskrit epics and the Puranas, iconographic canons that form a part of the religious texts known as the Agamas, written in Sanskrit, the court literature of the early mediaeval period and the early historical Sangam Tamil literature, apart from the archaeological material from the Indian peninsula. The author focuses particularly on exploring the ideas of power current in the society that created the narrative iconography of the period and the region studied.

On a hot summer day in Italy in 1902, the brutally stabbed body of Count Francesco Bonmartini was discovered, by means of its decomposing stench, inside his locked apartment. He was a typical Italian provincial aristocrat in all but one way: he had married into a prominent but deeply troubled family. His father-in-law was one of the nation's most famous doctors. His wife, Linda, a young freethinker, was the apple of her father's eye. Linda's brother dabbled in anarchism. Linda's lover was her father's top assistant. Her relations with them were illicit, incestuous -- and murderous. The scandal that erupted was a top news story in Europe and America for three consecutive years. Investigators uncovered successive layers of a conspiracy that constantly twisted and changed its shape. The suspects included all these men as well as their servants and lovers. There was a diverse array of murder weapons, including knives, heavy pellets, and poison. There were rumors of missing accomplices. Intimate relations among many suspects were uncovered through sensational letters and testimonials. Witnesses died mysteriously. A suspect tried to kill himself. One question lingered throughout and still haunts researchers today: what role did Bonmartini's widow, Linda, known as "The Enchantress," play? Was she the spider at the center of the vast web, or did the plot originate with the key men who loved her so desperately? Scholar and writer Christina Vella combines meticulous research with a novelist's eye for a great story. As she unspools the tight, tense drama, she offers a fascinating picture of Italian society in the early 20th century, with a historian's insights into life at both the top and the bottom. From sexual dysfunctions, to prison conditions, to the patronage systems that permeated medicine, law, and politics, the Bonmartini murder provides a window into a rich world. The result is an unforgettable story and an invaluable introduction to an Italy that is still recognizable today.

Joseph had always admired Uncle David. Many times he had wished David were his father. David liked Joseph very much. Many times he wished Joseph were his son. Shanna, Joseph's mother wished the same often. "I should have married David" she told her husband. David loved women as much as he hated them. He was loved by many who later learned to hate him. He was always falling out of grace, but somehow, somebody always managed to save him. Like a cat, he finally used all nine lives and hit rock bottom until his daughter saved him, not once, but twice. God in his infinite wisdom decided to give him one more chance. He sent his Black Archangel to save him from the gutter. David had fought with God all of his life, but finally surrendered and found happiness in the arms of the woman who truly loved him, a woman who believed she had killed him. Unknown David and to Joseph, their stars were on a collision course with destiny. What happened in between proved that there is a first time for everything and that life is stranger than fiction.

This book is a level 3 Hindi reader. Level 3 books helps in developing fluency in Hindi for children who are relatively comfortable with Hindi script and vocabulary and need practice to maintain and improve their skills. This book contains three stories. Each story consists of an interesting story line with a good mix of new and repetitive phrases. On each facing pair of pages in the book, the left page lists the Hindi paragraphs that narrate the story on the top. The bottom of the left page has the transliteration of the paragraph in English. If the transliteration is read in conversational English, the pronunciation would be similar to the one in Hindi. The right page translates the paragraph in English. The book contains three stories in which the lovable character of Sonu, a toddler, goes through several adventures. The stories capture the realistic experience NRI kids in America are likely to go through.
