Based on personal knowledge and intimate interviews with his subject, as well as access to W.J. Stein's archive of letters and documents, Tautz's biography is a thoroughly-researched and lovingly-detailed study of an exceptional life. Walter Johannes Stein (1891-1957) was one of the original pioneers of anthroposophy. A student of the Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner, Stein met his spiritual teacher whilst studying at Vienna University. After serving in the First World War, Stein was invited by Rudolf Steiner to teach History and Literature at the fledgling Waldorf school in Stuttgart, despite the fact that Stein's doctorate was in Philosophy and his training in Mathematics and Physics. Through his efforts to master the new disciplines, and with the aid of unconventional methods of research, Stein developed groundbreaking new insights into the story of Parzival and the mystery of the Holy Grail, which led to his seminal book The Ninth Century and the Holy Grail. Tautz describes Stein's close friendship with Eugen Kolisko, his struggles to help establish the threefold social order, his work as a Goetheanum lecturer, and his eventual estrangement from the Anthroposophical Society following Rudolf Steiner's death. After journeys of discovery across Europe, Stein landed in London in 1933 - a refugee from the Nazi aggression in Central Europe - where he met his mentor D.N. Dunlop. Dunlop employed him to help establish the first World Power Conference. Based in England for the last 24 years of his life, Stein became a prolific and popular lecturer and the editor of the important anthroposophical journal The Present Age. Long out-of-print, the new edition of this important work is a welcome addition to the growing number of biographies on the founders of anthroposophy.

So what were those F16s doing low over Cambridge? Why did the Norfolk coast move in the night? Or strange stars suddenly start blinking on the screens of SETI? Could Frank, in his hi-tech wheelchair, crack the problem? Or was it all down to Chrissie, with her fabulous flexible laptop that folds into a pink umbrella? Would young Alex, or security expert Brian, or the mad Lord Anglia, or even the man in brown, ever understand why the whole world, even the weather maps, seemed to have become crazily warped? Perhaps it was just another day at the office for Sir G-G. Or perhaps British movies had finally gone insane.Film-texts are in the format of a film-script, but are not designed for actual film production. They are intended to be read and imagined, with a bit of help from on-line maps and images, and play with a variety of familiar film genres, including romantic comedy, political thriller, and tourist guide: some are a kind of fantasy travel souvenir.Other NCQ film-texts are set in Athens, Budapest, Prague, Rome, Venice, and fourth-century Egypt.

London, England. The long hot World Cup summer of 2018. Endless sun, fractious politics, Boxpark beer showers, and a growing belief that football might just be coming home. From Lewisham's local pubs to the Colombian cafes of Elephant & Castle, and Belgian bars of Covent Garden - W C L D N is a look at how one of the world's most global cities consumes sport's most global event. But this is an observation glimpsed through a clouded lens; its author simultaneously lost in the fog of a depression he's desperate to navigate away from. How do you connect with the most unifying event of the sport you love, when you are at your loneliest? Is football merely a diversion from the everyday - a means of escape from the heavier pressures that continue to weigh down on you? Or, can it offer a crucial lifeline to reconnect with yourself and your surroundings?

This book provides a social history of Orange NSW through the eyes of a well-known early resident. In the mid-1960s W.E. sat down of a week and recorded his memoirs which were presented as a series of yarns. He chose the topics and just talked. They are not an interview. These tapes have finally been transcribed and presented in this book. A lot of fact checking has been undertaken and the personality and dates usually match perfectly. It provides the story of a fun-loving boy who became one of Orange's best known citizens.

Auden. She met with Auden privately to discuss her poetry and found that his encouragement forever changed her.W.H. Auden, Poetry, and Me is a heartwarming story that fluctuates between Gladys's and Auden's life. This is the story of a woman who has faced adversity with humor and grace, and of the famous poet she loved. Through it all, Gladys bestows pearls of wisdom that only a 102-year-old can give.

Preface: When I consider the title of this anthological offering, W. A. R., We Are Revolution, I strongly believe in the apt consciousness it potentially evokes in those who are a bit tired of the direction humanity has demonstrated as its propensity to maintain a 'status quo' of corruption, inequality, divisiveness and the lack of parity across the board. In our 'world of plenty', we have people who have not adequate drinking water, people who hunger for basic sustenance, people exposed to overt atrocities in the forms of war and other expressions of authoritarian brutalities, people who are homeless, people who are at risk and continue to be exposed to such risks due to political maneuverings, greed, and other tenants of bias, bigotry, racism and culturalism. Simply put, 'IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE' . . . ergo REVOLUTION When I speak of revolution, of course many of us envision the bloody type of coup de tat's that are recorded far too many times in our written history where people en masse will lose their lives and governments are overthrown as humanity is thrust in to another dark age where chaos and a jockeying for power by new players prevail. No, this is not my vision, and though it may be a very real fear for many, I would sincerely hope that collectively we can avert such a time by first changing the way that we think, change our consciousness in how we approach and integrate with life, our world, its resources and each other. I believe it all begins here, the path to change . . . it begins with thoughts that grow into words that are conveyed and shared amongst each other until a groundswell takes place. We are the wave becoming a tsunami of change thereby altering forever the landscape of perspectives, expectations and governing. In the end, I hope that those who have taken the time to read, if but one passage, will be stimulated to consider how they, each of us have a responsibility towards the world we leave behind, for our children and the generations to come. I pray that your conscious awakening will further be enhanced to understand the power we each possess, and that you will pay forward this 'conscious energy' to others who will do the same.Thank youBless UpWilliam S. Social engagements are the cornerstone of the college experience. Unfortunately, this is not one of them.A broken heart, something to prove, and discounted dairy products create a perfect storm of disaster at a party where the wine is actually a dollar store garbage can mixed with unidentified blue liquid.A campus novel mostly off-campus, W(h)ine and Cheese is a story of friendship, privilege, and bad ideas. In their next One 'n Done installment since The Legend of Dave Bradley: a Performance Piece, S. Atzeni returns to ask the all-important question, "did this really happen?" The answer is simple: don't worry about it.

If there was never religion, what would you think life experience is about? Is this it? Is life just about working at a job, being a law-abiding citizen, having sex and kids, a social life, hearing about or watching each other die and paying taxes? Even though the experience of it is short-lived, is life about being happy and its pursuit? Why are we here, why are we alive? Why is there something rather than nothing? Why is there motion as opposed to stillness? Why is life like this, why is it the peculiar way that it is? What is really going on here? Why are we forced to live on this sphere that is tumbling through the darkness, with no idea of where we are going? Even if it makes sense that all the other creatures are here, why are we here, the sole creature capable of all the engineering feats that we have accomplished? Why do we share some similarities to the other creatures, yet are so distinct in capability? Why are some of our bodily functions involuntary, how come they are not all voluntary and since we do not control our brains, nor our hearts, does that not mean that fundamentally, our bodies control us more than we do them? Why does being alive feel like a twisted joke, at times? Are there aliens? Does life have meaning or purpose, is there something deeper going on? Why is there death? What happens to us after we die, is there an afterlife? Is there a G0d? Though many of these questions and more have tormented the minds of human beings since our emergence so many centuries ago, especially since the appearance of homo sapiens, in this work, we take a practical approach in an earnest attempt to bring them to ultimate resolution.
