Something whispers in the shadows...From E.E. Holmes, author of the award-winning Gateway Trilogy, comes the first in the highly anticipated companion series The Gateway Trackers. It's been several years since Jess and Hannah Ballard foiled a cataclysmic prophecy that could have destroyed their fellow Durupinen, an ancient clan of women who allow spirits to cross between the worlds of the living and the dead. The girls swore, after the devastation and chaos they endured, they would never get caught up in the inner workings of the Durupinen again. They were wrong. After breaking the code of secrecy and facing the judgement of the High Council, Jess and Hannah have no choice but to become Trackers, working to take down those who would exploit the spirit world for profit or power. Their first assignment takes them into the deep South, where Jeremiah Campbell, a self-proclaimed spiritual guru, lures wealthy and desperate devotees with promises of a deeper connection with the dead. As the girls go undercover, it soon becomes clear that Campbell is not merely the con artist they suspected him to be, and that they, and the spirit world they are sworn to protect, are once again in unimaginable danger.Whispers of the Walker is the first spine-tingling installment in "The Gateway Trackers" series by E.E. Holmes.

The Dog Walker Who Doesn't Pick Up Shit is a book about a guy who, when his grade five teacher demanded he take notes, wrote down her every sneeze, cough, fart, and then read it back to her in front of the whole class-all for jokes. He's a guy who when a tanning salon burned him to a crisp, changed the letters on their store sign from 'Try our new Turbo Bed. It's the fastest way to get your tan on' to 'Try our turbo hooters. They're our fastest tits ' He's a guy who when he got fired unjustly from this one advertising agency called JWT, gave his company jacket to a homeless man with Tourette's that always stood out front so that clients walking in would think he was an employee. And he's a guy who, when the mistreatment of his bosses made him sick unto death, went on LinkedIn and endorsed them all for skills such as mismanagement, ineptitude, and bad breath. Simply, he's a guy who just doesn't put up with shit-and now as a dog walker-pick it up? He wouldn't dream of it The Dog Walker Who Doesn't Pick Up Shit is not just a book for anyone who's ever looked at shit on the ground and asked why, but really, it's a book for anyone who's also felt hard done by. If you think the world's gone to shit and don't know what to do, go ahead and read this book; it may just inspire you. The Dog Walker Who Doesn't Pick Up Shit-just purchase it-you won't regret it
Moses Fleetwood Walker: The Life and Legacy of the Last Black Man to Play Major League Baseball Before Jackie Robinson
*Includes pictures*Includes contemporary accounts*Includes a bibliography for further readingGiven his legacy, many Americans today believe Jackie Robinson was the first black man to play in Major League Baseball, but that answer is wrong. As far back as the late 19th century, there had been professional baseball leagues that were every bit as segregated as any other aspect of society, but before that, there were, for a brief shining moment, there were teams of black and white men playing with and against each other. One of the first black men to play on such a team was Moses Fleetwood Walker, and he was the first who openly identified as black. In an essay entitled "African-Americans in Toledo Sports," one author observed, "Moses Fleetwood Walker's promising but all too short professional baseball career mirrors the experience of most of the great African American ballplayers before the Negro Leagues began play in the early twentieth century. Walker was a gifted defensive catcher and adequate offensive player, but his career would be cut short by racism...Walker, well educated for a man of any race in the late 19th century, respond to this racism first with ambivalence, later with anger, and finally with prose. Walker's seminal work, Our Home Colony put him directly in line with the thoughts and words of future leader Marcus Garvey in his call for a separation of the races and a return of African Americans to Africa."As racism and segregation successfully pushed black players out of professional baseball, it was all but forgotten that professional baseball had once been integrated before Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier, ensuring that the contributions of Walker and other early black athletes would be obscured and then eclipsed. As one of Walker's biographers, David Zang, put it, "Walker was one of a handful of players who were playing in the predominantly white leagues in the 1880s. It doesn't seem that at any point he thought of himself as the 'first.' It was unusual, but others were doing it as well. Given his class and educational background, it is more likely that he was expecting to be absorbed into the mainstream. ... Walker's story is not a happy one, and I realize that people would rather celebrate the high points of history instead of looking back at the lows. Still, I am a little surprised that he hasn't gotten more attention, as he is a truly fascinating character."To this day, over 130 years after he played, Walker's life and his contributions to baseball history remain mostly forgotten, obscuring how a fascinating athlete with many talents experienced racism without letting it break him. Moses Fleetwood Walker: The Life and Legacy of the Last Black Man to Play Major League Baseball Before Jackie Robinson profiles Walker's career, and the influence he had on subsequent players. Along with pictures of important people, places, and events, you will learn about Moses Fleetwood Walker like never before.

Born into a world which had specific rules about multiple births (twins, triplets, etc.) Mashu should have been sacrificed at the first solstice after her birth, because she was a female born with a male twin. However because her twin brother was a shadow walker, a demon sent to earth to help mankind no one knew what to do with her. When her brother was sent to the shadow walker Haidar to be raised and trained she was sent with him. She had not been named when she was sent, so he called her Mashu which meant twin in the ancient language. To keep her occupied Haider hired a number of people to teach her things she showed interest in from music to woodcraft and weapons training. He helped her talk through her unique situation, having no family to arrange it, marriage was unlikely for her, so she had to put her energy toward other pursuits. When she was seventeen Haidar dies. Escaping the town which thinks that she is a slave, she sets out on the road to find her brother. Facing a demon and goblins and a paranoid town, she escapes the monsters and then picks up traveling companions, a soldier of fortune, a seven foot tall giant and a white wolf.
