William Wright

The close observations and sculpted language of William Wright's poems make the world a holy place. These poems brim with the restless energy of waking that leads us into 'rooms of smoky light that house the myth.' The myth is the beautiful and fragile existence of the creatures in these poems, from the boy who ponders a long-drowned woman to a caterpillar heavy with 'something vital and black.' Wright draws a world that is elemental and spirit drenched, and it is a world I want to live in. --- Al Maginnes

When people on Paris's bustling streets look at Michael Roth, they see little more than a Parisian student, a quietly spoken young man with a book under his arm, handsome but guarded. What they do not realize is that he is carrying a painful secret, one that he cannot even reveal to the woman he loves. For Michael is no ordinary Frenchman but a German. He has been sent to Paris to assist the Nazis in dealing with Resistance fighters. Desperate to escape his daily life, he steals into the world of the oppressed Parisians, and into the path of Chantal. But as Michael falls for the bookseller's beautiful daughter, he discovers that a person's past always catches up with them. Soon he will be forced to make the ultimate sacrifice and choose between his country, his life and his destiny. Daring, romantic and of exceptional quality, April in Paris is an extraordinary love story which will stay with you long after its final pages.

Eleanor of Aquitaine was the only person ever to sit on the thrones of both France and England. In this account of the turbulent adventures of the extraordinary mother of Richard the Lionheart and King John, author Douglas Boyd takes us into the heart and mind of the woman who changed the shape of Europe for 300 years by marrying Henry of Anjou to make him England's Henry II. Brought up in the comfort- and culture-loving Mediterranean civilisation of southern France, she was a European with a continent-wide vision and a peculiarly 'modern' woman who rejected the subordinate female role decreed by the Church. In this biography, using French, Old French, Latin and Occitan sources, Douglas Boyd lays bare Eleanor's relationship and vividly brings her world to life.

Before she wrote her prose masterpieces, Willa Cather produced striking poems, which were collected in 1903 in April Twilights. It was her literary debut, preceding the publication of O Pioneers! by nine years. In her introduction, distinguished Cather scholar Bernice Slote notes that this early edition of April Twilights restores what had been "an almost lost, certainly blurred, portion of the creative life of a great novelist." Among the thirty-seven selections are the much-anthologized "Grandmither, Think Not I Forget," and the highly evocative "Prairie Dawn."

Artist, designer, and lifestyle entrepreneur, April Cornell, opens her home and her life, to reveal how she captures the beauty of nature and expresses it throughout her personal and private living space. Features April's own introspections and illustrations, homey sketches that perfectly punctuate each page. In this refreshingly eclectic and intimate assemblage of home design inspirations, April takes the reader on a walk through her world of colour, textures and style, using her charming Victorian-style family home in Vermont as the showcase for her personal approach to design and decorating. In doing so, she inspires readers to rethink their own relationship with the natural world and suggests ingenious ways to enhance any home using nature's perfect palettes. Beautifully illustrated throughout, the book is a cornucopia of refreshingly simple, yet sumptuous home decorating ideas. It is also the inspiring story of an artist who has "looked" at her life and has been so dazzled by its inherent beauty that her focus is unwaveringly uncomplicated. Readers need not mimic April's style to appreciated the sagacity and sensuality of her design philosophy; her serene approach to home decorating is both infectious and achievable.

Fiction. I read the book as soon as I got back from Vegas. Then I read it again. His four leading men were Jews stumbling through late middle age, New Yorkers who despise and love each other in about equal measure. They were, as a group, stunned before their own capacities for trouble--schmendricks who fail ecstatically. Most remarkable were Camoin's sentences, which bristled with the supple dynamism of Bellow, the jazzy patter of Elkin--Steve Almond.

APRIL a Homeless story

This Homeless book is a tribute written and dedicated to both, my reading audience and the homeless people who provided much material, not so much through individual accounts of their own lives, but more so through my personal observations over several decades.I have had the good fortune provided by the U.S. Government to travel extensively not only within the country, but also outside of its borders, and in the process had the opportunity to gauge foreign cultures against our own. It was this platform that provided me with great insight into other country's problems, as well as with homelessness, not only inherent to the United States but worldwide.I should point out that countries have the same or similar issues with diverse social behavior not being easily managed. It seems that money does not matter much to the self-imposed homeless. Their objective for a successful life is geared towards a freedom of movement and social independence. I realize that there are two factions when addressing homelessness. One, there are the unfortunate ones landing on the streets who have lost a job, became too ill to work, feeling culturally deprived for equality, disabled American war veterans, drug and alcohol addicts that cannot perform on the job, and many more victims. Two, there is the nomadic hippie, nomad, and prepper seeking independence from government subjection and social responsibility. I hope the reader will have the patience to accept the wealth of material and information on the homeless issues I present within my story on homelessness. It is this information that will make one understand the homeless situation from both perspectives, the reader and the destitute.
