Arthur's Invariant Trace Formula and Comparison of Inner Forms
This monograph provides an accessible and comprehensive introduction to James Arthur’s invariant trace formula, a crucial tool in the theory of automorphic representations. It synthesizes two decades of Arthur’s research and writing into one volume, treating a highly detailed and often difficult subject in a clearer and more uniform manner without sacrificing any technical details. The book begins with a brief overview of Arthur’s work and a proof of the correspondence between GL(n) and its inner forms in general. Subsequent chapters develop the invariant trace formula in a form fit for applications, starting with Arthur’s proof of the basic, non-invariant trace formula, followed by a study of the non-invariance of the terms in the basic trace formula, and, finally, an in-depth look at the development of the invariant formula. The final chapter illustrates the use of the formula by comparing it for G’ = GL(n) and its inner form GArthur’s Invariant Trace Formula and Comparison of Inner Forms will appeal to advanced graduate students, researchers, and others interested in automorphic forms and trace formulae. Additionally, it can be used as a supplemental text in graduate courses on representation theory.

This book is to tell some of the stories of King Arthur and his Knights in a way which will be interesting to every boy and girl who loves adventures. In this book, besides reading of wonderful adventures and brave fighting, you will learn just what sort of man a perfect knight was required to be in the chivalrous times when men wore armor and rode on errantry. The duties of a 'good and faithful knight' were quite simple, but they were often very hard to perform. They were-to protect the distressed, to speak the truth, to keep his word to all, to be courteous and gentle to women, to defend right against might, and to do or say nothing that should sully the fair name of knighthood.

Your organization functions and grows through conversations-face-to-face and electronic, from the mailroom to the boardroom. The quality of those conversations determines how smart your organization is. This revelatory book shows you how the Round Table of Arthurian legend can help foster collaboration and transform today's world of business, nonprofits, and government. "When I want a group to work effectively, I turn immediately to my colleague of thirty-five years, David Perkins. This book is a distillation of his knowledge and wisdom." -Howard Gardner author of Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences and Intelligence Reframed "David Perkins applies his wit and inventive mind to create a fresh perspective on the world of collaboration in organizations. His archetypes and toolboxes offer valuable insights to anyone facing the challenges of collaborative problem solving." -David Straus author of How to Make Collaboration Work
King Arthur's Raid on Hell and other poems
This is my first collection of poetry (the second is "Pryderi's Pigs and other poems"). Most of these poems are written in medieval fixed forms, or approximations of medieval forms - one of my on-going quests being a search for ways of reproducing the sound and feel of medieval Welsh poetry in modern English. And yet, because the bardic art I practice is a performance art, these are in a larger sense not my poems at all, but merely pale imitations - poems preserved on paper. Until I can come and sing the real poems to you, I hope you will enjoy the substitutes.

2007 was the 50th anniversary of the publication of King Arthur's Avalon, which sold 100,000 copies, and is credited widely with a major share in the growth of Glastonbury's fame and the international renewal of Arthurian interests. This edition gives the original text, unchanged and unabridged, with a new Preface by the author putting it in a present-day perspective. He reviews developments in the past half-century and his own contributions to them.
King Arthur's Modern Return
The Arthurian legend closes with a promise: On a distant day, when his country calls, the king will return. His lost realm will be regained, and his shattered dream of an ideal world will, at last, be realized. This collection of original essays explores the issue of return in the modern Arthurian legend. With an Introduction by noted scholar Raymond H. Thompson and 13 essays by authors from the fields of literature, art history, film history, and folklore, this collection reveals the flexibility of the legend. Just as the modern legend takes the form current to its generation, the myth of return generates a new legend with each telling. As these authors show, return can come in the form of a noble king or a Caribbean immigrant, with the mystery of an art theft or a dying boy's dream.
King Arthur's Round Table: An Archaeological Investigation
The vast wooden disk known as King Arthur's Round Table has hung on the wall of the great Hall of Winchester Castle for six hundred years. But what is it? Was it ever a table? When was it made? Why is it hanging on the wall? When was it painted with the famous image it now bears? And why at Winchester? In 1976 the Round Table was taken down from the wall and thoroughly examined by a team of historians and scientists assembled by Martin Biddle, and its history began to emerge. Built in the reign of Edward I, it was probably the centrepiece of a feast held at Winchester after a forgotten tournament celebrating marriage plans for the king's children; Edward III, founder of the Order of the Garter, had the top hung up in the castle hall as a symbol of his interest in the chivalric idea of the company of Arthur's Round Table; Henry VIII had it painted and used the figure of Arthur to support his claim to be arbiter of European power. This most enigmatic of objects at last yields up these and other secrets to scientific analysis and historical deduction.

This is a photographic representation of Tennyson's famous poem, 'Morte d'Arthur. There are approximately eighty images portraying the last command of King Arthur, who instructs his last remaining knight, Sir Bedivere, to return Excalibur to the lady of the lake. During the tale, Sir Bedivere fails twice in his task, afraid to lose Excalibur, but finally succeeds in overcoming his own wishes, and completing his mission. Finally, Sir Bedivere carries his wounded King to a shore line, where they are both met with the enchanting sight of a dusky barge and three Queens to receive the mortally wounded Arthur. You will see vivid images depicting extracts from the poem, climaxing with King Arthur making his final journey to Avalon. The images within the book are dark and powerful, to match the emotion and feelings the poem evokes.
