Seemingly Rejected: The Reality of the Wilderness Experience

Seemingly Rejected: The Reality of the Wilderness Experience

Seemingly Rejected is a story about a part of my life, it is not the full story, not that, I don't feel anyone could handle it, it is more to the point that, it is un-needed material to be putting in the hands of certain people.I called this seemingly rejected because of my ideas about me, it was situations that i constantly put myself in mainly because, I didn't know what to look for, or the right way to go. what i know today is basically what Jesus said to his disciples, to become a man or a woman, we can't try to input into others the things that we have tried to get them through, because they are dealing with a different set of rules and regulations, and the times are drastically different too. I only wish, that i knew then what I know now, things really would have been different. there would have been a lot less fighting, and lot less anger, and maybe, just maybe, I would have been able to keep some stuff instead of losing everything three times. There are many things in my present life right now that I am thankful for, the first is my Lord and savior, Jesus, the second is my present wife LaVonia, the third is our home, then comes my son and his daughters, then comes the rest of my family. Jesus has done an amazing thing in my life within the past four years, there have been many times that i thought i was going to be in the grave, but yet, I still have life, and now, I can enjoy life with my wife.

Whispers of Womb and Wilderness is a journey through the cyclic nature of women and the four female archetypes they embody-the maiden, the mother, the wild woman/witch and the wise woman/crone. It is a provocative encounter with the divine feminine and the shared story of women throughout the ages, showcased through a collection of bold black and white art and the poetic whispers each piece inspired. This collection stirs up themes of longing, purpose, hope, creativity, motherhood, loss, love, healing, power, rage, loneliness, deconstruction, independence, transformation and rebirth. Feeling seen and empowered, the female reader is stirred to a remembering that she is supported by all of the women who came before her and reminded of her transcendent feminine soul. I love all of it. I love the poetry, I love the art, I love the bravery, I love how it feels revolutionary and familiar all at the same time. I love the little moth, and the font, and the sections... and the Latin I had to look up like a secret message. It's like the whole thing is a journey, obviously, but as reader too- reading it is a journey. A graduation. It's one of those books, the kind where the author bleeds onto the paper and you see and feel her soul and you can't help but love her and know her. And knowing her makes you feel part of something bigger, less alone but also brave enough to face things alone. Nicole has created something priceless and I can't wait for the world to see it.-Amy Jorgensen, Author

Into Wild Mongolia

Into Wild Mongolia

George B. Schaller

Explore the wonders of wild Mongolia through the eyes of a distinguished field biologist Mongolia became a satellite of the Soviet Union in the mid-1920s, and for nearly seven decades it effectively closed its doors to the outside world. Biologist George Schaller, who first visited the country in 1989, was one of the first Western scientists allowed to study and assess the conservation status of Mongolia’s many unique, native wildlife species. Schaller made a number of trips from 1989 to 2018 in collaboration with Mongolian and American scientists, witnessing Mongolia’s recovery and transition to a market economy after the collapse of the Soviet Union. This informative and fascinating new book provides a firsthand account of Schaller’s time in this little-known and remote country, where he studied and helped develop conservation initiatives for the snow leopard, Gobi bear, wild camel, and Mongolian gazelle, among other species. Featuring magnificent photographs from his travels, the book offers a critical, at times inspiring contribution for those who treasure wildlife, as well as a fresh perspective on the natural beauty of the region, which encompasses steppes, mountains, and the Gobi Desert.

The cinematographers and directors who shot film in wilderness areas at the turn of the 19th century are some of the unsung heroes of documentary film-making. Apart from severe weather conditions, these men and women struggled with heavy and cumbersome equipment in some of the most unforgiving locales on the planet. This groundbreaking study examines nature, wildlife and wilderness filming from all angles. Topics covered include the beginnings of film itself, the first attempts at nature and expedition filming, technical developments of the period involving cameras and lenses, and the role film has played in wilderness preservation. The individual contributions of major figures are discussed throughout, and a filmography lists hundreds of nature films from the period.

Bonnie B. Burgess

Given widespread concern over the worldwide loss of biodiversity and popular crusades to "save" endangered species and habitats, why has the Endangered Species Act remained unauthorized since October 1992? In Fate of the Wild Bonnie B. Burgess offers an illuminating assembly of facts about biodiversity and straightforward analysis of the legislative stalemate surrounding the Endangered Species Act. Fate of the Wild surveys the history of and analyzes the conflict over the legislation itself, the heated issues regarding its enforcement, and the land-use and habitat battles waged between conservationists, environmental activists, and private property proponents.Burgess's meticulous and exhaustive research makes Fate of the Wild a valuable resource for professionals in conservation biology, public policy, environmental law, and environmental organizations, while the narrative clarity of the book will appeal to anyone interested in the fate of nonhuman species.Burgess explains how wilderness has been consumed by concrete and asphalt, the effects of toxins on plants and animals, strip mine tailings, oil slicks, and smog. She exposes, as well, the "invisible" damage that manifests itself in the subtle degradation of natural systems and in the increased incidence and number of diseases, the rise in human infertility, and the drastic alteration of weather patterns and landscapes.Fate of the Wild presents a factual and balanced discussion of the various sides of the contemporary debate over the Endangered Species Act, alongside the author's clearly stated position: We are overpopulating, polluting, and overdeveloping our environment, and as a species we have embarked on a crash course toward a sixth great extinction event on this Earth.
