Written by Darius Good, illustrated by Ronaldo Jesus, David: Man of War is an exciting comic book drawn from King James Version of the legendary battle of David and Goliath. War has begun between the nation of Israel and the Philistines. Jesse sends his youngest son, David, to check on his brothers who have gone to fight with King Saul. The two nations face off in the valley of Elah. But the battle is at a standstill. The Philistine warrior, a giant named Goliath, has challenged Israel to fight their champion. Winner takes all. All the men of Israel are terrified, all but one, the young shepard David.
All anyone wants to hear about is the giant. For those who never knew the man, only his legend, it's all they ever ask. Did he do this? Did he say that? Was he afraid? Was he beautiful?Do they think his life narrows down to this one thing, sums up in this single moment? Do they think running toward danger explains him? Clearly, they never knew him.So I will tell. But I will have to take you back there to make you understand. So begins Mark Buchanan's trilogy of novels vividly recreating the life and times of David, a man of many contradictions - poet, killer, God-lover, adulterer, brigand, fugitive, war hero. It's a tale told through many eyes, those who love David and those who don't, in details both intimate and epic. Three thousand years after he lived, David: Rise reminds us why he still captures our imagination and rivets our attention.

Meyer's spirited and moving account of the life of King David follows the progress of David from humble shepherd to glorious king of Israel and Judah. The story of David's life and rise from modest beginnings is one of the most celebrated in the Old Testament tradition. This book is an attempt by F. B. Meyer to tell the story of David with a sequential and lively narrative, with the Bible as a source. Meyer's account is readable, colorful and thoroughly rooted in the authentic Biblical canon. We first see David as a bright, courageous young lad, who ascends from obscurity to fame and renown by fighting and defeating the great Goliath. Not merely a great leader, David takes to authoring a great series of sacred songs and hymns celebrating life and the Lord. His wise leadership, which increased the influence of Judaism and its interpretation of God, led David to become one of the most important figures in the Holy Bible. F. B. Meyer was one of England's best-known Biblical theologians in the late-19th and early-20th centuries. Educated in theology as a young man, he would spend decades preaching both in his home country and the United States. Famed and well-regarded on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, Meyer was a household name, in great part due to his prolific written works concerning subjects of the Bible and Christianity. Summing up his objective with this book, Meyer writes: "While sketching every period of David's life, I have concentrated myself on those passages which trace the steps by which the shepherd became the king. It was in these that his character was formed, his sweetest psalms composed, and those manifold experiences encountered which enabled him to interpret and utter the universal heart of man."
David, the brave shepherd boy fought the roaring lion and the wild bear. He made sure no harm came to his flock. When he met Goliath, the giant, he knew that only God could rescue him. Find out how God looked after David and had a special plan for his life. You can read about David in the Bible in 1 & 2 Samuel.
David Colman Rose was born in London on 30 January 1957. He attended City of London School and studied law at the University of Leeds and Queens Mary's College, London. He travelled extensively, was a keen sportsman and musician until the onset of cancer, revealed in a biopsy on 30 January 1977. He died in London on 5 July 1978. This is his story.
King David was a truly remarkable servant of the Lord, and yet in many ways he was just like us. On the one hand he truly cared about what God was after; God Himself declared him to be "a man after My own heart" (1 Sam. 13:14; Acts 13:22) even while he was still just a shepherd boy. On the other hand, David was often not clear about God's purpose, and he also experienced many failures, sins, disappointments, and sufferings as he followed and served the Lord. Through such a one, God was able to establish His kingdom, gain the city He desired, and prepare the way for the building up of the temple, His dwelling place on the earth. What a marvelous story, and what an encouragement to us in our own Christian life and serving today In David: After God's Heart , Titus Chu draws lessons for us today from the life of David, a King of Israel and the forebear of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. He writes: These are the two things we should care about above everything else-our relationship with God and how we serve our generation. We should serve our generation according to God's heart. We should not merely care for our own things. Too many people either serve only themselves or serve their generation in a way that is not according to God's heart. Most people seek what is to their own benefit. Shouldn't we consider our livelihood? Yes, we should. Yet David gave himself to live for what God desired and trusted that God was able to take care of him. Today God is still looking for those who care about what He is seeking. As we serve our generation, God is looking to see if we care for what is on His heart. These two matters should regulate our lives. CHAPTER TITLES Preface 1. A Dark Background 2. David Worthington, Viscount Fairly, has inherited a brothel he does not want, but hesitates to sell for fear his employees will not be treated well by the establishment's next owner. He hires Letty Banks, a courtesan currently without protector, to serve as madam, but soon finds himself attracted to her on more than just a physical level. When serious harm befalls Letty at David's brothel, he realizes he cannot continue to exploit a woman he cares for. He arranges a way for Letty to return to obscure respectability, and prepares to walk out of her life, only to find he cannot leave her undefended against the trouble bearing down from her past.
'David' is meant for businessmen, students, teachers, parents and the list goes on. It is meant for all to enjoy, not just a specific audience as anyone old enough to read the words on the pages will learn something new and valuable. The main character is very much human in all respects; yes even the weak spots. The words Lead, Leader and Leadership are buzzwords in our world today. Many lecture on leadership and others call themselves leaders in our homes, schools and in the workplace; even in our places of worship. So how does one lead? And who sets the tone for all leaders to follow? Do you know what makes a good leader and what qualities should one possess? This book does not promise to have all the answers, but rather offers an insight into the life of a great leader. It opens your eyes to the humanity that it takes to be a leader unlike what is portrayed in the media. Its about the real thing
